Sexual offenders under the age of 21 should be required to attend some form of alternative school but not regular public high school.

In the registry for Aiken County, SC, you have a 14 year old boy listed. I thought the identity of minor was protected until they reach the age of 17 years.

Did you "boink" any girls in High School? If, she was under 16 yo, even if the sex was CONSENTUAL, then in SC ... YOUR FACE WOULD SHOW HERE ... maybe a few "SEX CRIMES" should be re-thought!!!

I thought it was a law to make citizens aware of when a sexual offender is living in your neighborhood. I've noticed on many of the registered offenders, there is no address. Where are the citizens rights? Seems these people are too protected instead of our children.

does anyone know if there is a particular date that a sex crime had to be committed for the offender to be required to register? I know someone who as a repeat offender-child molestation to be exact-and although reported several times and jailed he has never been on the list. Honestly, I would post his name in lights if I could. This excuse for a man, has married a woman with 2 young children, one of which is mentally challenged. She had never been married and along comes Mr. "I LOVE YOU" ILOVE KIDS" Hook, Line, and Sinker. I have went as far as contacting that counties DSS and unless I can give evidence that he has recently molested a child, then too bad, they wouldn't even consider looking into it. SO if you know why he wouldnt be on the LIST please comment back!! Thanks!

There are TWO sexual predators now at Buelah Baptist Church in Hopkins. The parents of the children are not aware of this, however, the minister is aware. Shouldn't it be his moral responsibility to make the parents aware rather than protect these men?

Posted by Child of God (not registered) on Jul 02, 2006 01:39 AM

I think that you should ask your self what God would do if they are in church with you why don't you just pray for them instead of wanting to humiliate them like our lord was humiliated and shamed let him be their judge just as he is ours morally your pastor is not God and neither are we

I don't know if making the congregation aware would be effective, as far as what God would do well I'm not God. I was sexually abuse a s a child, as a parent of 3 kids I don't allow my kids to be around men by themselves. If we are in a public place I don't allow my boys ages 6 and just turned 9 to go into the mens bathroom alone. I just think we need to be cautious, my husband tells me I am too protective but the sexual abuse is something I have dealt with for 37 yrs. and it has affected every aspect of my life. I think it is the parents responsibility to be aware of what is going on and if something feels wrong or a little odd to you than chance your gut is correct.

Televisions, magazines or media are the number one who contributes to these crimes that mold sex offenders while they are at a young age or at age of a preteens that their sexual drives are being elated for what they saw and read. Schools should have uniforms for girls. High school girls wears clothes that shows their cleavage, which they wears a tiny teeny clothes to hide their bodies. This happens especially in big cities. Parents and teachers should cooperate. Schools should teach modesty. Not to teach teenagers to be a parents themselves that should be taught in college. Parents should reprimand boys in baby sitting their child to avoid any problems to occur in case. We cannot judge but to avoid and prevent in creating a monsters. If they are a one time offender psychiatric tx, multiple offender death penalty. Who agree???????

There is a older man that i know of that has commited sexually acts to a minor and is not listed in the county registery. I would like to know why? And how can we protect our kids from these men or women if their now listed. regodless how old or new the crime is, its only right. I hear from word of mouth, but i don't want to accuse someone of something they haven't done. but also make sure i know of the ones that have. they could be living next door to me, smiling in my face everyday, and thats not good.

What can be done about this?

Posted by Anonymous (not registered) on Jul 19, 2006 07:52 PM

I think all people should rethink these child predator convictions. Did you ever think that you could be blaming a person who never did anything to a child?

Making Her/His life a living hell. Not letting the person work for a living or sometimes burning houses because of your irrational behaviour. Harming them with physical violence because you may think they did something?

Maybe you should just ask the person and them keep an eye on them?

By harming an innocent anyway will lead you to Hell and Damnation with you not even knowing it. God will not forgive those that harm another and won't ask forgiveness from the one that was harmed. Give offence to anyone of my little ones and it would be better that you put a millstone around you neck and throw yourself into the sea. This includes those that are innocent of any wrong doing on earth. You will not be forgiven until the one you gave the offence forgives you.

Not all sex offenders are predators. I am getting tired of the registry being so clogged up that it's hard to tell whom is bad or not. I believe the registery should be change to a more rounded name which includes Rapist, Kidnappers, Armed Robberies, Murders, Home Invasion, etc. but only in the First Degree. If they are convicted in any other Degree then there must have been some reason beyond our knowledge for this and should not have to register or be on a monitor for life. To keep on persecuting all these other individuals is wrong. They have served their time and are trying to better their lives. Everyone needs a chance in forgiveness. What does the Bible say? It says to let the one without sin cast the first stone. Hasn't everyone made a mistake and been forgiven by someone in their lives and gone on to learn from them? Are you going to be so brash as to cast the first stone? What would God think about you? These are the questions everyone must ask themselves.

If anyone could tell me where online I can actually read South Carolina's laws concerning where registered sex offenders may legally live it would be greatly appriciated. I do home health care and there is a registered sex offender in the home of one of my clients. My client has a daughter who is severly mentally handicapped and, according to my client, one of this man's convictions was for RAPING a mentally handicapped teenager. My client is disabled and unable to protect his daughter from this man. Isn't there any law to protect her from this man? Why is he allowed to live with her?

Posted by concerned citizen (not registered) on Jan 23, 2007 09:20 PM

I think the young girls out there going with older men should be punished as well as the men . If you are 16 you know what you are doing , and why should we protect the innocence of a young girl after she herself went with an older man of her own accord. I am not saying that a young girl who was forced ahould not be protected , but by the age of 12 now young girls are having sex with any one who will go with them .Alot of men have been punished for life while the girls have no punishement at all. If the law would make it a crime for young women to go with older men as well as men to go with young girls maybe some of this crime would be lowered . I honestly dont beleive in a man over the age of 19 going with a girl 16 , but when a 16 year old contantly offers it to an older man they will eventually except it . I just personally think the laws should apply to both sexes not just the men . Allowing young girls to not be punished for this just tells them that they can get away with it and someone else takes the blame. I also agree with the other poster about making the sexual register easier to read . I think if a man is convicted of sexual crimes of a 16 year old girl and she was willing , it should say it was consentual instead of making people believe it was rape. Rape is a cruel crime and should be punished to the max . BUt when a young girl 16 goes with a man over 19 and concented why should the man be the only one punished . I would like others opinions on this . thx

Posted by concerned citizen (not registered) on Jan 23, 2007 09:26 PM

Also I think if a young lady goes with an older man and he is convicted of a sexual crime with her consent she should be listed also to let other people know she could be a threat to their lives as well. Not every man who goes with a younger lady is a sexual predator , and most dont even know their real age . Young girls today look much older , where are the parents while these young girls are out having sex with anyone and everyone ,Why do the parents just wanna make the man pay when the girl was there in the crime with him .

Is it not illegal not to let South Carolina residents view the sex offender registry since Megan's law went into effect? I have a computer and when I try to access SC sex offenders registry, it says its been moved to another site and when you click on it, it says the page is not available. I live in Pendleton, SC and have a minor daughter. Do I not have the right to look and see if there are registered sex offenders living near me and my daughter? Please let me know. Thanks

i think all sexual predators and offender shouldnt be allowed to live a normal life , since they did take a childs life away ! i dont think they should be able to borrow money from banks ect... or live happy go lucky while the child they did that to suffers every day of his or her life , remebering what they did to them !

no sex offender should be near any kind of school or public place were kids are at and if a affender moves walking distace near you you should be told the information so you will know to keep a closer eye on your kides and loved ones and for your safety as well and you know to keep your home well secured

I AM MARRIED TO A " SEX OFFENDER " WHO DID NOT DO IT. THE TRIAL WAS CRAP AND THE PERSON SAID THAT SHE WAS MADE TO SAY IT BY HER MOTHER WHO HATED MY HUSBAND (THEY HAVE KIDS TOGETHER). SO BEWARE TO ALL WHO JUDGE THE GREATER JUDGE OF ALL WILL JUDGE YOU.

I have a cousin who is on the list for having consensual sex with a 16 year old girl. I think the laws and the list need revision. He was 26. He did his time. Why should he have to pay forever with this stupid list. It should include only sexual predators. Alot of 16 year old girls are out looking for sex; looking for older cute guys with jobs and stuff. It should still be illegal, but the laws even vary from state to state making it legal in many states?! Yet, he still has to pay after his time with a federal list where if he were in a legal age state he wouldn't?! Many 26 year old guys are still young looking and cute. These girls pursue these guys and lie about their ages. Fifty years ago, these ages were common in couples. I am not saying that the laws are wrong, but the penalties aren't coherent for statuatory rape with girls age 16 and over; and vary by state. A fifteen year old can get maried in Mississippi! I think that not only should statuatory rape not be on the registry with girls over age 16 after they paid dearly with prison time so they can move on with their life, it would also unclog the registry when there is no federal statuatory rape law, why include them on a federal registry. Someone should take it to the supreme court. My cousin is the silent hero because that girl was looking for an older guy and it would have been legal in other states!

Patrick-

The laws are flawed. I can speak from being a registered offend whom is 26yrs of age. I have a meeting with my rep. in my district for our state government. I am sick of the laws, and how flawed they are. I want to start a NON- Profit group so we can start fighting back. They are in a sense trying to segragate us from the every day population so to speak, as they did blacks, and gays. Sure some of the offenders we need to watch out for but there are so many more whom pose zero threat. I also would like to state that the young women whom lie about their age, need to be held account able along with the parents. Its time we come together and work to get the laws straight NATION WIDE and uniform. No neon plates for your car, no special markings on your photo id, nothing on your myspace, facebook, or any other internet site. People need to be educated and young children need to be taught the dangers that hide be hidden screens and parents need to be involved. GPS tracking for those convicted of CHILD MOLESTION i agree with. We all need to remember one thing, we are all somebodies children.

Posted by Mom of three (not registered) on Jul 14, 2007 08:54 PM

Some of these guys should not be on here. BUT if they are convicted of child molestation or rape, I want to know where they are to watch there ass and protect my kids. Thank you for the registry most people with common sense can read and see which convictions should not be there.

Posted by Oldtimer on Jul 15, 2007 07:27 PM

mom of 3..How do you suppose the registry is protecting your kids? I suggest you go to : http://sosnet.bravehost.com/

and educate yourself on this issue. Its the ones closest to you that your kids may need to be protected from. The registry has already failed to protect you.

Posted by Hexgirl on Jul 15, 2007 07:47 PM

The reg... is nice to help in some ways, but it does not protect your children, you the parent have to try too. Not all the Preditors, or the true Offenders reg... that is why the local police stations ask for help if anyone sees them out, or about. No matter where you live there is always going to be some form of a Criminal, Offender, Preditor, ETC.... most of the time alot of the ones whom are labled Offenders, really are not, they had sex at a age where the parents got madd, and you figure out the rest. Another thing the closest person to you by family, or friend, are the ones you really have to watch for because it happens more by those type of people then a com... stranger. Tammy (HexGirl)

Posted by Hexgirl on Jul 15, 2007 08:50 PM

So if you people think the reg... is the main protection for your children, you need to really open your eyes, and your minds, and watch your children. Tammy (HexGirl) I am telling you watch the people who is cloest to your family the most.

OK I was reading some of the comments and people have a very narrow mind about things , has anybody ever thought that just because someone might be on the list does not mean that they did what they were blamed for. I know for a fact that there are some people on here who did stupid stuff when they were a kid like have to pee and did it behind a bush got caught and was put on the list ,some people get setup and can't prove that they didn't do it so they end up on the list . not to say there is not people who belong on the list hell they should be castrated for hurting a child ; now the state of south Carolina is charging them more and more money for the privilege of having there picture taken and having there lives disrupted for ever.

Posted by Anonymous (not registered) on Aug 08, 2007 04:46 PM

I would like to say the registry did help me protect my family. While surfing the internet one day I came across the photo of an man who I hired (along with his wife) to exterminate my home. This man was in my home for six months and was one probation for molesting a 10 year old child. He had only served 3 months of that before he broke it by having contact with my daughter. He was never along with my child but he did make what I thought at the time inicent comments comparing her to his vicitm (unknown to me at the time). I feel if I had not come upon this information he may have tried to harm my child. As i have been told my house was the only one he serviced with children. So in my case it has been a great help in maybe preventing a possible preditor claim another victim. As with anything, all cannot be perfect. There are some people who may have made a stupid mistake while in highschool but if you view the information a use common sense it could help save a child. I do not think there is enough being done to help parents protect their children once someone has been caught. Posting their picture is one SMALL step. We have to stay aware of who is in our neighborhoods and in our homes. The rules say they cannot go/live near a playgroun/school/McDonalds but what about being able to run a business where they enter a persons home who has NO IDEA this person is a predator. They should not be allowed to make a living where they can still prey upon children and their families.

Sex Offenders list needs more work. Here is a true story of an underage (16-17) girl and a father going through a divorce. The underage girl is babysitting for the father and tells the child she is babysitting that she likes the child's dad and tells her friends on several occasions, she wants to sleep with him . One night when baby sitting the child, dad comes home slightly intoxicated, the baby sitter seduces him. Baby sitters parents finds out because she bragged to her friends, parents presses charges, the father agrees to plead guilty to a misdemenor in order to avoid a trial because he should have known better intoxicated or not. No mention in the plea agreement is the sex offenders list. He goes before the judge gets put on probation and has to be placed on the sex offenders list. Now is now branded as a sex offender, he can not go to his child's school functions, the child can not have any friends come over, father can not attend church with his child because he can not be near other children.

Aiken County is about to pass a law where a listed sex offender can not live or work within 1000ft from schools, daycares, bus stops, churches. I support this law to an extent. This law should applied to child predators and repeat offenders. But there are some people listed who are listed that should not be on the list. Ex. consentual sex between with a 16yr girl and and a 20yr old man. Does this mean that a mistake that happen years ago keeps this man from attending church with his family? Does this not border on denial of constitional right of freedom of religion?

Posted by lawana (not registered) on Sep 21, 2007 09:14 AM

i definitely dont think that sex offenders should be allowed to live a normal life, ever. the children and people they hurt will never be able to, either, so why should they? for the people who supposedly dont deserve to be on the list because it was consensual, its still their fault. its everyones responsibility to know the laws of the state they live in. you're expected to know all the other laws, so why not that one? anybody who gets "seduced" by an underage person deserves to have their name told, for being so stupid in the first place. when i have kids, you can guarantee that i'll be checking this list all the time..checking their friends parents, neighbors, boyfriends, etc. you only understand how helpful this registry is if you've been a victim or known a victim or are a parent. i think all sex offenders, no matter what they did, shoud have to register for the rest of their life...none of this "10 year registration" crap. they made the choice, and they should have to live with the consequences.

Posted by Hexgirl (not registered) on Sep 21, 2007 10:18 AM

The man who slept with the teenager, should have gotton alot worse then what he did, and he should not be allowed to go to school things, or other places around children, no matter if he was drunk or not. The man has issues. I was a victium of being molested (ALOT) with a father who was drinking all the time from 2 years of age until I was 12 years old, and now that I am 32, he has done this, again. Hexgirl (Tammy)

Posted by bill (not registered) on Oct 12, 2007 01:20 AM

Hexgirl and lawana

Either of you have premarital sex with your spouse or another person? How about sex or petting while in school. Lets post your husband or boy friend. I slept with my wife after our engagement and she was 2 mo. pregnant when we got married and she was 18 by 1 mo. on our wedding day. By the law I would serve 7 to 12 years. In stead I served 30 years so far with her and raised 5 fantastic children. Don’t take that as bragging. I have not always been the best of dads. The laws are intended to help but in many cases they only send fear into our lives. I too am a posttraumatic stress victim. At 6 years old I was molested by a baby sitter and threatened. I slept under my bed in fear with a baseball bat till I was 16. My nieces were molested by their dad and practiced on me what their dad did to them till I was 12; at 13 a doctor ripped my left tactical messing with it. I am 55 now and have a cyst and bad vane all these years from it and fear has stopped me from getting it fixed. My wife almost never sees me with out cloths on. The answer is not to leprosies all sex offenders. Some honestly understand the how and why of their offence and suffer with the remorse for the pain they caused to their victim and related family members. These (few) need the chance to use their experience to stop others and at the same time put their life back on track. The other thing I want to say is there are many people who are silent suffers like us. And we need only to look in their eyes and we see it. The key is to get off our butt and help them come out of their shell and stop being a victim. They are trapped in their own mind or in the government system and will never heal. I started a program called Renovators. Church members are trained to see signs of possible problems and the first step is entering their name (confidential) into a special prayer group. Then work with them to stop allowing themselves to be a slave or victim of the issue. It does not necessarily need to be a sex crime and it could be the offender who is a victim or slave.

I saw a person on here who has an assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature but it doesnt mention that he did anything sexual. Why is that?

Posted by Mason (not registered) on Oct 23, 2007 02:50 AM

In Response To Iawana,

Your ignorance sickens me. I am 15 years old, i am a victim of molestation by my uncle, and my father is a registered sex offender. But my father has never ever laid a finger on me or my little sister, nor would he ever. I think that for you to just lump all sex offenders in to one broad category is pretty flippin stupid. What my father did was stupid and really shouldn't have been penalized. When he was "young and stupid" (age 21) he grabbed a womans breast, but it turns out the girl was 16 and since then he has had to register and he will have to register for the rest of his life. Now according to you "sex offenders should not be allowed to live a normal life, ever. the children and people they hurt will never be able to, either, so why should they?" im sure that that girl isnt traumatized for life, and im sure that every day it doesnt haunt her that my dad grabbed her breast 19 years ago. You really should, either A. do your research before trying to sound smart, or B. just keep you ignorant comments to yourself. Because of ignorant heartless people like you, because my father commited a minor offense he is lumped together with all of these child molesters and rapist, and it has seriously effected my life. He cant go within a certain distance of a school, he cant go out with his own children at halloween, and he cant even get a decent job anymore. How is my father supposed to provide his family with a decent life under those circumstances?

Bill,

I am not sure I understand your question since it has nothing to do with anything I have said on this sight first off. Second, having my son molested at 9, and he is 11 now has changed me in alot of ways then I ever thought I could change towards my feelings on sexual Offenders, and Sexual Preditors. I do though think that is you are a teenager and have any sexual relationships, and are willing as the other party to have sex, or mess around then you are to blame as much as the other person and no-one should have their life ruined due to the hormone thing, and the person I am with now has been the same as I have been with since I was 13, now 32, and I can understand your point in the age of sex between partners having the sex, but when it is a child, that is hurt by an adult, and that child has no say so, and is forced, even an adult , or anyones forced for the most part and has un-willing sex, that SIR I have a problem with, and I think any good person would, or should feel that same way.

Posted by Oldtimer on Jan 17, 2008 10:15 AM

Lets try to clear this up. Yes, in the case of entrapment, it is a "victimless crime" in that there is no one to testify. HOWEVER (IMHO), laws have been written lately that make it a crime to "solicit" over the internet...and in some cases against the law to "arrange a personal meeting" with a minor for sex. That is why these people are arrested.

Posted by unlawful (not registered) on Mar 14, 2008 06:39 PM

THERE IS NO VICTIMS IN MOST OF THESE CASES, HOW IS THAT LEGAL. THAT IS IN ENTRAPMENT, AND THAT IS NOT LEGAL. BUT I GUESS PEOPLE OF THE UNITED STATES DONT CARE HOW THE LAW DOE IT. TO BE ON THE REGISTRY FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE, AND NO VICTIM, THAT IS PRETTY SAD IF YOU ASK ME.WHERE IS THE CIVIL RIGHTS, THAT WE ARE SUPPOSE TO HAVE IN THIS NATION. DOWN THE DRAIN. LOOK OUT AMERICA, WE WILL HAVE NO RIGHT SOON .

Posted by unlawful (not registered) on Mar 26, 2008 08:19 PM

i watch these programs that have been showing and i agree the predator should be take care of .but i also believe that it should be done legally and i see it isnt as this is entrapment , as there is a non existing child ,as the case people vs roots and it wasnt legal. i feel that we are losing are rights more and more each day and that isnt good for the united states of america . i am wondering where is it going to end ,as if the goverment and the judges and police can do this . doesnt look good for us as americas. we need to figure out how to handle the internet and put restriction on these wed sites and the most important thing is to protect our children and our rights, as americas . we are failing our children and our rights also pretty soon we will be in trouble , i should say we are in trouble laws are being pass and are not good for our rights but no one listen to the people anymore the policition do as they please .wake up america and look around as we are in trouble.

I feel it is not right to post a child on the web page we have to protect our children, So what harm could we be causing them by putting them in the public view on the sex offender list? ages 16 are minors according to the law. So how could you put them into the same position as an adult and expect them to act like a minor?

I agree that sex offenders should be punished. However, should young guys that had sex with their girlfriends be punished? Should they be made to register as a sex offender? Should their lives be destroyed? I THINK NOT!!!! His was living with his girlfriends parents and they moved him into her room!!!! What were they thinking??? The kids had sex. no duhhh, she got pregnant and the parents had him locked up!!!! He now has to register as a sex offender and is serving 7 years.!!! Now tell me this is fair and makes him the bad guy.... the girlfriend wouldn't go to court because she didn't want to get her parents in trouble so guess who got the shi**y end of that stick. He was charged with assult of a high and aggreviated nature because she wouldn't tell the truth!!!!! So my suggestion to all you who want to hang these people is to find out the whole story before you set and act as judge, jury and exicutioner!!! Some of them just made a mistake and shouldn't have to pay for it their whole lives. These laws should be change to be what they are supposed to be not to just label anybody who makes a mistake!!!!!!!!! You can go to your local courthouse and research each indivual case and see what is really going on behind each story and see for yourselves if they are really bad or if it is just a case of making a mistake.!!! Not all of these people are bad. The ones who are should have been hung by their parts!!!! But don't hang them all just because you don't have all the facts!!!!! Would you want people to point you out and yell sex offender call the police, post his picture on the internet for the whole world to see because you made a mistake!!!!! I know I wouldn't and lets face it we have all made our fair share of mistakes!!!!!! Should we all be posted on this and other sites like it because we did???? THINK ABOUT IT!!!!

LOL there are obviously a lot of sex offenders writing comments on this site. How could someone NOT want a sex offender list? I don't want to live next door to or hire a f****** pedophile! Every criminal says they are not guilty, so stfu.

Posted by Anonymous (not registered) on Jun 25, 2008 09:53 AM

Juveniles are not supposed to be posted on the websites. The age and orientation of the victim can be posted. Where are you getting your facts? I suggest people look into the laws of your particular state instead of reading what other people post and get mad about it. Every state has a criminal code .. look into it :)

Do you know what i think is sad that they convict these men some arent even sexual predators they were lured into meeting and then they keep them in south carolina weith no job or no place to live. Gee do you think they will get bored and do something else.

Posted by anonymous (not registered) on Jul 03, 2008 10:36 PM

Lawana you say they it is everyones responsibility to know the laws where they live well isnt it the responsibility of the parents to know who their children are conversing with. I'm sorry but at 14 i wasnt talking sexual to anyone anywhere. I certainly wasnt talking like that to men who could be much older or even my age for that matter for a young girl to do that seems to me and everyone else in this world has had not the best upbringing. That was never acceptable when i was growing up. The world produces these people and it stems from what. Tjeir home life their values morals. So dont put it on just the men if this was a one time thing you should know what your kids are doing i made sure and my son has grown up to be a veruy respectful good kid-Good parenting

It seems to me there are alot of people on this site who are upset with south carolina. Entrapment is wrong in fact I have proof with someone I know where this supposed 14 year girl (there was none) continued to contact this person making advances towardas him repeatedly until a few months later when he fell for the bait. South carolina will pay for their arrogance . They just wanted to look as if they were truly concerned about the people who live there by convicting people who are sex offenders. But guess what now these offenders can not move back home they have to stay in south carolina without jobs and places to live. Gee do you think thats good for south carolina

Upton, A it's a shame he had to stoop as low as a 14 Year old.

Posted by Questionair (not registered) on Sep 30, 2008 05:52 PM

It should be AT LEAST 18.

I mean, should a 17 year old guy go to jail for having sex with his 16 year old girlfriend?

I heard it was to reduce teens getting pregnant, well, where theres rules like these, there are even more people breaking them.

OR

Am I in a wrong forum? lol

SC law is pretty f***** up, two lovers, 17+16, 17 goes to jail for sex, most likely ruins his high school education, over some small intercourse.

I completely understand rapists and pedophiles, they should be punished.

Also, the Colorado law is REALLY f***** up, theres an age difference of 10 years. Some where around there.

I just found out today that a registered sex offender "lewd act with a minor" age 11 lives on Greir Street in Clover SC, Less than a mile from Kinard Elementary. The bad thing is he is registerd with this address. Thanks South Carolina for caring about the 500 student in the school less than half a mile from his home!

I am so tired of this state. My son made a mistake and now he is being released from SCDC. Now they are telling him he can't even visit with his child because of her grandparents. Not the girls parents. They said he couldn't see his child or they would take her away.WHY?

Posted by anonymous (not registered) on Oct 12, 2008 02:19 PM

Never will understand our screwed up laws. I was told by LCSD that if your child is 16 years or older, that the parent no longer has control over their body, it then belongs to them. And that we as parents are responsible for our children until they reach the legal age of 18, however, they can move out at the age of 17. Or can choose to stay home and doesn't have to follow your rules anymore. It seems to me they make the laws up as they go.

to the 15 yr old girl who's fahter grabbed the women in the breat you seem to think that the girl was not troubled by what your father did you may want to ask her because I to was grabbed by a stranger in the breat just waiting by my mother car for us to go shopping and rapped by another and did not evne ask for it it disturbes me on a daily basis I don't feel good about my body because of it and I am in my 40's now it will never go away it comes back to haut me every time i see someone who got hurt by a sex offender. Not all are bad and never repeat again but there are more coming out every day. and there seems to be more who repeat that the once that only had done it once.

I am a sex offender. I had sex with a 15 year old girl when I was 17 and now I am on GPS for life. I guess it doesn't matter that I have cancer and really don't know how long it will be before I am gone. I just want to live a normal life. Not to mention that the people at the parole office are trying to help me get off of it because I have done nothing that half of america has done. If that be the case, then my wife and my brother and my dad and my uncles and my grandfather would all be in the same boat. Sure, you should wait until you are married before you have sex, but do you have to punish me for life because of what me and my girlfriend did seven years ago. I have moved on from that, with daughters of my own. But my live is essentually over.

how can I find out if a registered sex offender is allowed around children, I became aware of a young girl that stays with her Grandmother. It's the Grandmothers son that is the registered offender. Who can I call to have this followed up on?

Posted by Gail (not registered) on Jul 07, 2009 09:56 PM

I think that there should be different status levels on the offender list. My son was convicted of disseminating material to a 16 year old girl who he had been texting back and forth with. He had just turned 19 at the time. He has been made to register for life! In this state there is only life and 2 levels. Offender and predator. This ruins a young man's life. He cannot find a job now. Any comments?

Posted by mike (not registered) on Jul 08, 2009 08:34 AM

Anonymous. If a registered sex offender is off probation/parole he or she can be around children. Its a different situation if he or she is still on probation/parole.It all depends on the sentence or contract some will say. It can be no contact with minors at all or it can be supervised contact with minors meaning as long as a child is present with an adult a registered sex offender still on probation/parole can be around children. To be honest I have no idea how to find out what the stipulations of a sentence would be.

I cant understand how you can call it rape when someone is willing. There is a diffrence. Its almost always agreed with both sexes and then all of a sudden someone hollers rape.

Question - In the state of SC if you are convicted of criminal sexual conduct 2nd degree, are you allowed to be around children? If not are you allowed to have children or marry someone with children?

Posted by crazy (not registered) on Jul 28, 2009 02:31 PM

Not all sex offenders are sex offenders like a 18 yr old boy has sex with a 16 yr old girl and the guy is a sex offender... think about it their are alot of sex offenders out there if that is the case.

To Whom It May Concern:

This past winter I was asked to leave the Conway Library by the Conway police because I am a convicted sex offender. The following week I met with the director of the Conway library, who told me that it is city policy that sex offenders aren't allowed on library property.

On Tuesday, Aug. 4th 2009, I went to the Socastee library to check out a DVD movie, and was informed that the Conway library had put a block on my library card, and that I would not be allowed to check out any material until the block was removed.

On Thursday, Aug 6th, I wrote to the South Carolina State Library Director, and informed him that the Conway library had blocked my library account, and requested that I be allowed to use the Socastee branch.

While visiting the Socastee branch on Friday, one of the librarians informed me that Mr Goble was on the phone, and wished to speak with me. He informed me that I was not allowed on any state library property, and I requsted that he write me a letter and cite the policy that bars sex offenders from using the library.

I had been visiting the Socastee library for several months and never had an issue with the facility until now.

Tom: Great debate on this. Were you punished? There are many cases in the courts using such situations to prove the registry is additional punishment. Check out what is going on in your state.

My bf was falsely accused of a sex crime but in turn, he served time and is trying to go on with his life. He works hard, takes care of his Mother and we would love to get married. Can he marry me and be around my children as well? We live in NC.

Our system is warped - is a Sex Offender one who masturbates in front of children at a bus stop? I would think so! Should his "pastor" stand up in court to defend him - NO! Does he? YES! Is he registered? NOPE! Does this scare you? It should-knowing he could be living next door. Prob. is-b/c it is not considered a "lewd act" in the mean time I am spending every dime we have to protect my little girl from unsupervised visitation with this man also known as her father. An offender is an offender for life and I will make it my life long goal to protect as many children as possible and be happy if I protect only 1!

Posted by ASH on Sep 06, 2009 12:49 AM

To all of you singing the blues to the offenders...
IT IS THEIR FAULT. THEY MADE THE DESICION TO BE PERVETED AND STUPID. THEY HAVE TO LIVE WITH THAT. STOP CRYING AND UNDERSTAND THAT CHILDREN ARE #1!! FINAL!! GET OVER IT AND UNDERSTAND THAT YOUR FATHER, BROTHER, SON WHATEVER DID WHAT HE/SHE DID AND DESERVES HIS/HERS LIFE LONG PUNISHMENT! IT IS WHAT IT IS. LIVE WITH IT. (IN CASE YOU DIDN'T GET IT PERIOD)

I'd like to respond to "puzzled". If a woman in her mind and soul and body is not 100% committed to having sex with a man and she has sex with him anyway, she will often feel that she was co-erced or raped. In particuliar, if he never calls her again. She will feel used and thus raped. Also, if she was sexually abused as a child and does not remember, then every act of sex (especially if not loving and gentle) will bring up her subconscious knowledge that she was raped. Make sure that a woman knows you 100% before you have sex with her. Make sure that she is giving herself to you willingly (not drunk or drugged) out of love for you and herself. It is best to wait to have sex with her after you marry. Then she is 100% because she knows you are 100% with her. This is one of the many reasons that almost all religions teach sex after marriage and not before. Using a woman for sex gratification is a form of rape. most Young women don't think to use a man for sexual gratification. We have vibrators for that. If a woman is with a man, she's seeking love and intimacy, not sex. If you don't love her, leave her, but don't sex her. This is immoral. And most women feel mildly raped after consenting to sex with a man who turns out not to love her.

I think its funny all these hardliners wanting to torment sex-offenders for life... anyone who has ever committed adultery, ever had premarital sex, ever lusted... is a SEX-OFFENDER. Its funny, Im sorry... what do you think it will be like in Heaven? Will there be a section for sex-offenders? Unlike alot of these so-called righteous people who enjoy pointing fingers and wallowing in unforgiveness... one thing a sex-offender has come to know: this world hates us, this world doesnt forgive (even though everyone's just as guilty), and we know our own sin... and have come to know Jesus as Saviour and that He alone is our Salvation. Jesus came for the sick, (everyone's is sick, just not everyone admits it)... and being the so-called worst people in the world some of us have put all our hopes and dreams in Jesus. For you see... on the Cross, Jesus became the murderer... the rapist, the thief, etc. The first shall be last, and the last shall be first. There are probably more True Christians in prisons than there are that attend church today. Most people who call themselves Christians think being saved is about going to church, or "being good"... and thats why many hate sex offenders so much. Like they are soooo righteous, and God loves them most. But these people arent even saved. But many of the worst people in the world have realized their sins and have accepted Jesus' sacrifice alone as attonement for their sins. I am a convicted sex-offender, I am a Christian (Jesus paid the price for ny sins) and I am going to Heaven: and there wont be a sex-offender list there. So, all you who are hating us... well.. keep on... God has a seperate place for you. I forgive all you haters... but you better repent and realize you're in the same boat.

Making someone go to an alternative school is ridiculous with certain circumstances. Most people convicted of a crime worse than these get less time or no time some of them don't get any charge what so ever.

Posted by eagleseye62 on Oct 14, 2009 07:52 PM

I also agree that young girls should be punished. You were saying 16,but I hate to tell you, the girls are starting @ 12.The new thing is masterbation and oral sex. If it was a rape, sodimized, murder, kidnap, then I say send them away, put them on the sex offender list. If the man was in his own bed,in his own house sleeping and a friend of his fathers comes in with the daughter and she goes in the bedroom and starts fondling him, well? Excuse me, but she should be punished for something, and her parents who are divorced should have some blame also. I don't feel like everyone should be on the sex offender list. If this is so, I could send a few away myself and I didn't do anything to cause it. My My wouldn't they like to know who these politions are? I am so fed up with it all. They say our prisons are too full, well it makes sense to me to let the NON-VIOLENT ones out.

Posted by eagleseye62 on Oct 14, 2009 08:43 PM

I can understand worring about sex offenders in our neighborhoods, but the ones I worry about are the violent rapist, sodimizers. I am more afraid of kidnappers and now I am worried about murders who live near us. Imagine a man who was involved with 2 murders, because he talked and gave info., they let him go, LET HiM GO, he has been in trouble since, some of you know him, he is trouble, why is he not branded with a name like a non-violent consensual person is, SEX OFFENDER. I think on Holloween, Thanksgiving, Xmas and New Years when people go out and party that the LAW should check and make sure they are home, they are the violent ones, Brand them with a tattoo that says MURDERER, KIDNAPPER.

The advertisments on TV, most of your movie channels, the news, are the number 1 people who teach our young girls about sex, being sexy, are teaching what men want, its a no wonder our whole country is nothing but full of sex issues.

Once again the Sout Carolina Dept. Probation, Parole, & Pardon Services is doing a worthless PC feel good activity to waste our tax dollars. All of the sex offenders being supervised are to be home, with their lights off between 5pm and 9pm. This includes all of 97 sex offenders. The department will have agents going to there house, ONCE to check on them. There is nothing to prevent the offenders from turning on their light and passing out candy after the agents leave. Once they are checked on, agent will not be back. Furthermore, even though they are told to comply, the state has no way to enforce this directive. They will NOT be arrested if they do not comply. This is all bark and no bite!

Take a look at the stats of sex offenders, there is NOTHING that shows they are more likely to do anything more on this night than any other. Furthermore, only a portion of all sex offenders "prey" on children. Think about it, out of all the nights, why would a sex offender decide on this night, the night that, for the most part, parents ARE with their children. This, of all nights, would not be the night to find new victims.

Lets also look at the numbers... The SCDPPPS has all of 97 offenders on their caseload they supervise and who will be checked on in Charleston Co. Taking a look at the SLED sex offender registry, there are 889 offenders registered in Charleston Co. Out of the almost 900 ONLY about 100 will be required to stay inside their residence with their lights off. Only these 97 are told not to "participate" in halloween. What about the other nearly 800 sex offenders??? IF this is such a night to be concerned with, why do we not care about these other offenders?

If the SCDPPPS is really concerned, why do they not have all of their offenders meet in one centralized location and monitor them away from the children? Would this not make more sense? But, then again there is no information to support this waste of tax money is even needed...

To answer a question possibly looming in your head... NO, I am not a sex offender. NO, I am not a criminal. YES, I have first hand knowledge of these proceeding.

Posted by Steve (not registered) on Jul 24, 2010 02:11 AM

To the one who says all sex offender's should not be able to have lives. If you have P2P networking apps on your computer, i'd get rid of em. Plenty of people are having to register because of misleading filenames on programs like "LimeWire". Think your getting a rock song, and bam, "Possession of child pornography" So, before you start raising hell like you have any idea what your even talking about, take a second to learn. To learn some of these farces people are having to register for.

I get so tired of this Gung-ho attitude e.g. "Execute em" Sex offender doesn't always mean 'predator'. Hell, sometimes the crimes that put them on the registry don't even have victims.

Research these laws and quit persecuting someone for something you yourself could end up experiencing. All it takes is for some back luck, and your screwed.
