How often is this database updated? I can't locate a subject in mind.

Posted by admin on Sep 19, 2005 07:34 PM

It's different for each county and state, best thing would be to contact your local office directly, if you cannot find it online.

Posted by onemeangirl25 on Oct 21, 2005 11:04 AM

the database is updated when the person gives them where he has moved and if he changed what he is driveing etc they updated when the sex offender has change something or has moved

My brother is a convicted sex offender from California currently living in the Las Vegas area. Unfortunately Nevada (with its irresponsible "tier" system) protects sex offenders instead of children. Robert attends AA meetings on a regular basis and works in the construction industry. He preys on children he meets from friends in AA or on single mothers with children. Please be aware and be cautious.

I want to let people know that just because someone was convicted of a sex offense does not mean they are waiting for some child to come along to pounce on them. Sometimes people do make bad choices, and unfortunately have to live with those choices for the rest of their lives, labled some kind of freak.

I agree there are a lot of freaks out there, however, sometimes there are some D.A.'s just trying to make a name for themselves and the people that cannot afford to defend themselves properly are preyed upon by these district attorneys and made to pay for something that should never have been taken to court in the first place. I have see things on TV that show more that what my sister was convicted of. She lives with what happened to her, and has tried to make it into a positive in her life. She does not talk to strange children, and is very careful not to get close to people that have small children, so that no one can say or even suspect that there may be something going on in her mind. She stays away from children, even though she feels sorry for children that are abused and neglected. She would turn in someone that she suspected of abusing a child in a heartbeat. She will never let what happened to her protect a child abuser or molester for paying for what they do to children.

My point is that everyone that has been convicted of a sex crime against children, does not necessarily mean that they are out looking for their next victim.

To 'Anonymous - Oct 27 2005 @ 8:54 am' , I too believe that there are people that live among us who are Offenders and there are people like your sister and My Husband, who are not, yet they were 'In the wrong place at the wrong time' and will forever suffer the Scarlet Letter. This has almost destroyed us financially (fighting it in court) & emotionally (Scarlet Letter). My husband is in a catch 22. It has affected his employment (he lost his job when he had to serve his sentence a mere 4 months in county jail. Anyone within the court system knows that 'Real Sex Offenders' are not given such petty sentences!) Since his return home, every potential job application asks 'Felony Conviction' & 'Explain', he does not even get back in the Door!) People please don't get me wrong, I do agree that our society needs checks & balances to protect our kids, However I believe that our society has gone off the DEEP End with no regard to the unfortunate people who are not 'Real' sex offenders yet, are labeled as such and suffer the REST of their lives!

I hope that if just one person reads this & that they too were in the wrong place & time that they are not alone!

Regards,

Wife of a Good Man & Mother of 3!

PS. Don't even ask me what type of repercussions this has created for OUR children!

FIRST OF ALL I WANT TO KNOW WHAT CHILD IS IN THE WRONG PLACE AT THE WRONG TIME, AND WHY YOUR HUSBAND HAPPENED TO BE THERE. AND ONCE A SEX OFFENDER ALWAYS A SEX OFFENDER. THEY ALL NEED TO SPEND THE REST OF THERE LIVES IN JAIL. WHEN IT COMES TO A ADULT THERE IS NO WRONG PLACE AT THE WRONG TIME. YOU ALL KNOW YOU ARE WRONG TRYING TO JUSTIFY YOURSELFS AND SEX OFFENDERS. HOW DO YOU COMPARE A SEX OFFENDER TO D.A'S SO THERE ARE SOME D.A.'S OUT THERE THAT TAKE YOUR MONEY THE SEX OFFENDERS BASICLLY TAKES A CHILDS RIGHT AWAY FROM HIM/HER. STOP PROTECTING THE WRONG PEOPLE

I am new to this website but I have to say Nevada Laws regarding child molesters are so different then in my state. Two of my 3 children were molested by a relative who lives in Nevada. My son who is 18 just recently came to me in the past year and told me. it went on from the time he was about 5 to 14 years old. my daughter was 10. We contacted the police in our state who interviewed my children and took a report. It was turned over to the Nevada police. They contacted us and told us that the relative refused to cooperate and give a statement and because there was no physical evidence and because it happened over a period of 9 years but ended 4 years ago there was nothing they could do to help us. Even though this man had been accused of the same thing years earlier by someone else.

I was told that because there was no physical evidence at least 5 children had to come forward before anything could be done. This makes no sense to me!! 3 times isn't enough? Meanwhile my children are not only having to deal with what was done to them, but also have to worry about revenge as we have been threatened by the relative who did this to them. This man now thinks he is above the law and WILL hurt another child. Can anyone explain this to me?

Posted by Oldtimer on Jul 10, 2007 11:19 AM

This is another example of the registry's failure to protect children. Your example of this Nevada fellow shows how the dangerous offender can keep off the registry. I would suggest you talk to a lawyer about this situation. Ask for a free consult. Obviously, this guy has some kind of "protection" from the system. You just have to find a hole in the dam.

would like to know how a person that is a convicted sex offender with a child under 14 can get joint custody of a 9 yr old in Las Vegas

Posted by Oldtimer on Jul 28, 2007 08:07 PM

Suggest you go to: Lawyers.com and ask the question on that one. They have a section that if you register, you can get some suggestions.

Posted by Anonymous (not registered) on Sep 06, 2007 07:57 PM

The problem with I see from everyone comments is that you think everyone on the sex offender list did an offend against a child . You can be put on that list for many reason including urinating in the park. Not everyone did a sex crime against a child. and the holier than tho attitude make me wonder if that person life can stand close examination

Posted by Oldtimer on Sep 07, 2007 07:51 PM

That is the issue the legislature needs to take up. Yes, every case is different and some people are dangerous and some just made mistakes. The law cannot continue to put everyone in the same "pot". With time, I am sure they will classify the level or degree of sexual offense and only the most dangerous will be posted on the registry that is available to the public.....at least I hope our system is smart enough for that!

How can I find out the criteria determining which tier an offender will be classified as in the state of Nevada? Also, how would one go about being reclassified? Anyone? Please?!

Posted by Oldtimer on Dec 07, 2007 09:21 AM

Misty: Look up the Adam Walsh Act on the internet. It will tell you what you want to know and is fed. law. From the act:(c) Keeping the Registration Current.--A sex

offender shall, not later than 3 business days after each change of

name, residence, employment, or student status, appear in person in at

least 1 jurisdiction involved pursuant to subsection (a) and inform that

jurisdiction of all changes in the information required for that

offender in the sex offender registry. That jurisdiction shall

immediately provide that information to all other jurisdictions in which

the offender is required to register.

Posted by Oldtimer on Dec 07, 2007 09:30 AM

Tiers: You can find them in the Adam Walsh Act, also. For example:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adam_Walsh_Child_Protection_and_Safety_Act

If I understand correctly, this fed. law will be mandatory for ALL states in the next two years UNLESS aspects of it violate that states constitution. (IMO)

Categorical definitions are at best problematic. Not all convicted offenders are of the same kind. But we are screwed over, this is true. What are we to do other than complain? I am trying but loosing at all ends. A friend of mine said posting a blog at this link: www.nsef.us is a start. I do not really see how that will help, but I might.

Some days it seems so bad.

i work with a company in nevada with the general manager as a registered sex offender managing 300 people. the company is aware of his criminal status. by law is the company required to let all his co-workers be informed specially people working directly with him know that he is a registered sex offender and do they have any problem?

Posted by Hex on Feb 08, 2008 05:52 PM

ONLY IF THEIR IS CHILDREN INVOLED, THE COMPANY HAS TO LET YOU KNOW. IF THERE IS COMPANY FAMILY OUTINGS, AND PICNICS, ETC... AND CHILDREN ARE THERE, HE BY LAW CAN NOT BE. BUT I WOULD CONTACT YOUR LOCAL STATE ATTORNEYS OFFICE, THEY SHOULD TELL YOU WHAT INFO... YOU NEED. HEXGIRL

My brother, an alcoholic, was feeling up two underage girls at a casino in Henderson, he went to court and they made him take an AA class but the state never made him register as a sex affender! I am appalled of this because he watches teen porn sites and what if he gets that drunk again ... THIS STATE SUCKS with their policies! Anyone that thinks that this is okay is SICK! I would kill a M.F. if they touched my daught in ANY way!! Can you believe that the parents did NOT even show up for court on that matter? SICK SICK SICK

People are stupid in this town, Las Vegas and Henderson, are people just waiting for something to happen in the criminal justice system? Any one that even touches a kid inappropriatly needs HELP and needs to be registered just because us parents and kids of all ages should know that a guy next door got drunk and touched a girl like that, in my opinion, your brother needs not only help but should have had someone mess with him, IN PRISON!!!!!!!!!!

i know of a sexual predator name R.Robinson who movd from on state to another. He failed to registra in the state of Ohio and fleed to the stat of Nevada. He is staying with this girl who has a cleaning business and he is working for her. Her business address is Las Vegas Nevada 89108. I also informed her that he is a sexual predator she meet him online and they been talking for 2 month. he informed me that she has money and he was going to stay they for 90 days and see how much money he can get from her. He said he trying to play this girl. She already informed me that he slap her in the face. And he also a crack addited. He probably not using know because he do not have any money. But as soon as shelet her guards down he will be using again. he also asked herto marry him. that another way he could get het money fast. I hope she will be alright. He is a tier 3 sexual offender who has to registry every 90 day for the rest of his life. he rape his wife and beat her up and drove her around in his car. if anyone know this lady tell her to be careful and she could lose her business if she don't informed people who she gired. but he is working off the book so that he don't have to registra.

For all you people out there... I think that rapeist or child molesters should be registered; but the United States and their laws are so messed up that even the guy/woman that walks around inside their home naked from the bathroom to their room, and someone sees them; this is a lewd act and now they would have to register as a S.O. Also the person that has to relieve themself behind a building or bush outside and if seen; they have to register as a S.O. also. When is it ever gonna stop with the U.S and their stupid ways.... Do you think its about the money and all the programs that the system can get????? hmmmmm let us think on that while meanwhile we LABEL ANOTHER HUMAN out there. Don't you think their should be a limit to what you should call a Sex Crime and just Indecent Exposure?????

For the record!

Anyone who does harm to children in any way should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law! However the system is incredibly flawed and unjust. For example:

My husband (before we met) was 18 years old, at a friends house, his friend brings over 3 girls, all of them claim to be of age, and look like it as well. Teenagers being teenagers, one thing leads to another, ond my husband gets oral sex from one of the girls---everything is fine and dandy right? Wrong! a few days later my husband was arrested, and sentenced to 8 years in San Quinten State Prison for statutory rape! Mind you the girl wouldn't even testify! And there was no eveidence either! Is that fair? Hell no! I have been with my husband for 5 years now, and he is a good husband, an amazing father, and a great friend. For God sakes he is the one who helps the elderly neighbors daily! He wouldn't even kiss me for the first month we were dating for God's sake! Now they want to say that our home (which we own) is 150 ft too close to our daughter's school so he can't live there anymore. What was he supposed to do, check ID for every hoochie momma who wanted to offer a blow job? Maybe he shouldn't have been so loose as too get head from a girl he just met, but why does that make him a sex offender?

Posted by cameron (not registered) on Feb 14, 2009 10:19 AM

I hear so many use the term sexual predidtor, what does that mean exactly? Do you put everyone convicted of any sexual offense into the same sexual catagory? Then you are an idiot. You don't put bank robbers into the same catagory as someone who does a home invasion or say a car jacking as the same as someone who steal just your car or simply breaks into your car and steals you radio or what ever! The American people have become so callosed in there thoughts that they will believe anything on the TV or radio as "The Truth" before even considering what or if this is bull.

Something to think about. If you are ever accused of something, "Anything" once you speak on your own behalf you already appear guilty in the eyes of the one pointing. You must walk in the shoes of the accused before you can say guilty. Oneday you yourself might be the one society is picking up rocks to throw at. Just think about it.

One other thing, child molestors are not the same as someone who sleeps with a woman and then the woman says she feels guilty for what she did and then tells her friend and her friend tells someone and then the man is to be found that he is now to convince a jury that what was thought to have been consentual sex is now a defense of a woman who is now or has felt ashamed. What! I know it doesn't make sense, no other sexual crime, but now has to register for life because this person said no weeks after the sex act. What is the matter with people?
