WHY ARN'T LEVEL 2 OFFENDERS LISTED AS WELL? IF A 27 YEAR OLD MAN WILLINGLY AND KNOWINGLY HAD SEXUAL RELATIONS WITH A 14 YEAR OLD GIRL, WHO IS TO SAY HE WILL NOT DO IT AGAIN! MY EX HUSBAND HAD A SEXUAL RELATIONSHIP WITH OUR 14 YEAR OLD BABYSITTER WHEN HE WAS 27 YEARS OLD. THEY SNUCK AROUND BECAUSE THEY IT WAS WRONG. BUT YET HE SPENT 64 DAYS IN JAIL, 3 YEARS PROBATION, CONVICTED AS A LEVEL 2 VIOLENT SEX OFFENDER. DON'T PARENTS HAVE THE RIGHT TO VEIW THIS MAN AS WELL AS THE LEVEL 3'S? THIS MAN HANGS OUT WITH A BUNCH OF TEENS AS TO THIS DAY. WHO IS TO SAY THAT HE WON' T CHEAT ON HIS CURRENT WIFE WITH ANOTHER TEENAGE GIRL. THEY SAY THAT LEOPARDS CAN NOT CHANGE THIER SPOTS, WELL THIS MANS ROUTINE HASN'T CHANGED FROM WHAT IT WAS WHEN I WAS WITH HIM, HE IS STILL THE SAME.......

I watched a special on women sex offenders tonite. Why are women not treated the same as male offenders. Before anybody makes the assumption that boys are more willing to take part in these sexual encouters with women of age, take into consideration the effects that women can have on young boys. I know of a sex offender who was raped by his sister at the age of six, this encounter affects his entire life. He went on to offend, and spent over a decade in prison due to his actions and those forced upon him. I know that people are responsible for moving past their traumas, but society is also responsible for treating everybody male or female the same.

I very well agree with the fact that it shoudnt be just level 3 sex offenders! All sex offenders no matter what sex, age, race or even gender needs to be posted for all of our childrens sake! We must protect our children but how can we do that to the fullest if we cant be aware of such sex offenders?!

Posted by Cindy (not registered) on Jan 25, 2007 06:29 PM

Why would you NOT post them ALL!????that is crazy! pos tthe damn pictures and protect our children!

Posted by Anonymous (not registered) on Jan 28, 2007 09:07 AM

The purpose of the registries is not satisfy the passion for revenge that is obvious in the first comment. Again the last comment talks about protecting children. To protect your children, you need to concentrate in your own house because most kids )at least 90%) are molested by their daddies (plus step daddies), uncles, cousins, family freinds, teachers and coaches. Aslo, we need to worry more about the unregistered offenders because they constitute about 95% of all new cases.

I hope people will wake and stop being fooled by all these misinformation, fear mongering and hysteria.

PARENTING DOES START WITHIN THE HOME, YES. BUT NO MATTER HOW HARD YOU PARENT OR STAY ON TOP OF YOUR CHILDREN THINGS CAN HAPPEN, AND IT IS NOT FROM LACK OF PARENTING, FROM THE PARENTS WHOM REALLY CARE. YES THERE ARE PARENTS OUT THERE WHO WOULD, YES BE AT FAULT, BUT NOT ALL FIRST OFF. SECOND OF, THIS SIGHT IS TOO HELP EVERYONE TALK, GET THERE FEELINGS OUT, ASK QUESTIONS, AND DISAGREE, BUT MOST OF IT BOILS DOWN TOO TRYING TOO HELP PROTECT OUR CHILDREN, NOT FROM REVENGE. BUT ON THE OTHER HAND PARENTS WHOM HAVE HAD THEIR CHILD MOLESTED I FEEL ANYONE WHO CARED WILL ALWAYS HAVE THE FEELINGS OF WANTING REVENGE, BECAUSE THE STATE DOES NOT DO A DAME THING, NOR THE GOVERMENT. i DO NOT CARE HOW PEOPLE ADD THE MATH UP, OR STATE THEIR FEELINGS WHOM DISAGREE WITH THE WAY THEY FEEL, OR SAY THE STATE CARES... NO THEY DO NOT, I KNOW BECAUSE MY SON WAS MOLESTED, I WENT THROUGH A YEAR OF HELL, ALONG WITH MY LITTLE SON, I WAS LYED TOO, AND TREATED LIKE SHIT, AS WELL AS MY SON, THE OFFENDER WAS TREATED BETTER THEN MY SON. I AM THE REASON MY SON HAS HAD THE HELP HE NEEDS, AND I AM NOT COMPLAINING, BUT NOT ONE TIME DID THEY ASK ME IF MY SON NEEDED HELP AS THEY SAY THEY ARE IN IT FOR THE VICTIUMS, FALSE,FALSE,FALSE. AND YES I AM ANGREY, AND PISSED OFF, AND IT'S NORMAL FOR SOMEONE TO WANT REVENGE, THE ASSHOLE TOOK THE INNOCENCE AWAY FROM MY SON, AND THE OTHER OFFENDERS OUT THERE HAVE DONE THE SAME TO OTHER PEOPLES CHILDREN. I LIKE THIS SIGHT, AND I HAVE CHATTED WITH SOME INTERESTING PEOPLE, AND NOT SOME, BUT THE NUMBER ONE THING ALOT OF US HAVE IN COMMON IS TRYING TOO YES GET THE REVENGE THOSE PREDITORS NEED, AND SEXUAL OFFENDERS, LONGER PRISION TIME, HARSHER SENTENCEING,AND FOR THE STATE TO TAKE THE SITUATION AT HAND MORE OPENLY, NOT CLOSED MINDED.AS WELL AS THE GOVERMENT. GOOD PARENTS DO THAT, AND KEEP UP ON THAT, SO HOPEFULLY WE DO NOT HAVE TO KEEP LOSEING LIVES OF THESE POOR LITTLE CHILDREN, TO MAKE THE WHOLE DAME STATE, AND GOVERMENT WAKE UP, IT SHOULD NOT TAKE THIS IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN DELT WITH A LONG TIME AGO. I USED TOO FEEL LIKE YOU (ABOVE ME) UNTIL IT HAPPENED TOO MY SON. DO NOT JUDGE A BOOK BY ITS COVER THEY COME FROM ALL WALKS OF LIFE, AND UNTIL YOU HAVE WALKED IN SOMEONES SHOES WHOS HAD THIS HAPPEN, IT IS HARD FOR PEOPLE LIKE YOU TOO UNDERSTAND. TAMMY (HEXGIRL)

I FORGOT TOO ADD ONE MORE THING WATCH THE NEWS, DO SOME DAME RESEARCH, PARENTS, AND GRANDPARENTS HAVE THE RIGHT TOO BE FREAKED OUT, THSE OFFENDERS ARE BEING OUT LEFT AND RIGHT, AND PUT BACK INTO OUR SOCIETY IN HOPES THEY LEARNED THEIR LESSON. UNDERSTAND THE KEY WORD (IN HOPES)I WOULD RATHER SEE MY TAX PAYING MONEY GO INTO KEEPING THEM IN PRISION, INSTEAD OF PAYING FOR THEIR THERPY, I DISAGREE WHOLE HEARTEDLY, WHOS PAYING MY SONS THERPY BILL? (ME) WHO HAS THE LIFE LONG SENTENCE? (MY SON) WHO GETS A SECOND CHANCE? (THE PREDITOR) YOU DO THE MATH!!!!

Yes im in totall agreement this is ridiculous. I am a soldier on Mobilization in texas and i got word that the mother of my child is letting a level 2 sex offender stay at her apartment. Theres nothing i can do i no the guys name but theres no way to find him in the system hell i found his accomplise on the registary but nope not him. So i cant do a thing but sit back and pray nothing happens to my little girl. Way to go Nebraska, good looking out for us law abbiding citizens who have to leave in fear because you dont want to hurt someones feelings. I think they lost their right to privacy when they broke the law.

MAYBE YOU CAN GO TO THE DEPT. OF CHILDREN AND FAMILY'S IF THERE IS ONE THERE AND EXPLAIN YOUR SITUATION WITH YOUR DAUGHTER, TRY THE COURT HOUSE AND ASK TO SPEAK TO A VIC.. FELONY WORKER, AND EXPLAIN YOUR DAUGHTERS MOM IS STAYING WITH A OFFENDER, AND YOUR IN FEAR FOR HER SAFETY, AND YOU ARE NOT SURE WHY HE IS NOT PICKING UP ON THE OFFENDER REG... YOU COULD TRY A POLICE OFFICER, BUT I AM SURE THEY WOULD TELL YOU TO GO THROUGH THE STATE. I HOPE THINGS WORK OUT FOR YOU WELL, BUT BEFORE I GO ALSO TRY ASKING A LAWYER, THEY MIGHT BE ABLE TO PIN POINT YOU IN A BETTER DIRECTION THEN THE PEOPLE I STATED ABOVE. I REALLY HOPE THINGS END UP WELL, AND SHE IS NOT HARMED DUE TO THE MOTHERS LACK OF JUDGEMENT. TAMMY (HEXGIRL)

I don't agree or support sex offender's in the least, but the way the system has it set up is that there is a test taken for sex offenders. and the score of that test determines what level of risk to reoffend that person is. For instance, I know of a person convicted of commiting a sex offense because he slept with someone, who wasn't a minor or anything, but they both later found out they were related, he still got charged and was made to be a level 3 offender. They have civil commitment in place now so that even when a sex offender is done with their sentence they are placed at the regional center for civil in order for the psych people to determine their risk of reoffending. The sad thing is, some who are considered a level 2 should really be a level 3, but they don't have much criminal background, have a decent family background and therefore the scores show they aren't a very high risk of reoffending. I am a student studying law, and my opinion is not that all sex offender's should have to be on the public site, but that the so called testing and scoring system used to determine risk of reoffense should be adjusted and changed. For instance, say you have a 19 year old kid, who happens to have a record of minor violations, and he has sex with his 15 yr old girlfriend, and his family background sucks, his scores would determine him to be a high risk of reoffending and he would be a level 3, on the site for everyone to see and judge, now a sane person knows that he's not gonna touch your kids, he had sex with his girlfriend, but he is still publicly made known. That isn't very fair, is it?? I certainly don't think so.

I was at the fair this weekend and it made me sick to see girls between the ages of 12 and 15 acting, dressing and talking the way they were, they certainly weren't with their parents, and young boys walkin too, and actin like little players and pimps. Our very young children need protection from those nasty people (male and female) who think it is ok to touch or harm little children, but our teens and pre teens need parents and role models teaching them what is allowed and appropriate and what is not. Since when did it no longer become a parents responsibility and butt to have an unruly teenager who goes out partying, and gallovanting around, having sex and other unlawful things. Where is the responsibility for that??? You have a 14yr old girl who thinks it's ok to wear a shirt only half covering herself and shorts so short her butt hangs out, because she thinks its cute and that sex is cool, she sees some guy she thinks is soo hot, and doesn't bother to ask how old he is, and tells him she's 16, well when they have sex and mommy and daddy find out and freak out and call the cops, he goes to jail, prison, on the sex offender registry prob level 3, and what do the parents ever do to take responsibility for their daughter's acitons, or the daughter to change her behavior and lifestyle. I am so sick and tired of all the way around, everyone having the issue with the offender (whether sexual, or any crime period) but society wanting to do nothing and take no responsibility whatsoever except no who the offender's are and treat them like S*%$ but heaven forbid we attemp restorative justice or any rehabilitation, let's just crucify them all and not care how our teenagers are acting and what they're doing behind our backs. Even though that's where it starts is as teenagers, we're not helping break a cycle of future offenders are we.

What about the 18 year old having sex with a 16? The 18 year old should have been asking some more serious questions instead of listening to what he wanted to hear. How about showing proof with a drivers license? Granted, there is alot of parents not accepting responsbility for their teenage daughters but I believe that young men should be more responsible then what they are. I also believe that a reg. sex offender should be made to wear their prison attire when released back into society. It would make offenders think twice. If a crime is committed against them while in attire then let the courts handle it. If they are in public without attire then they are up to NO GOOD!!

Sept 4th: Your key word is "lives". If the offender is behaving him/herself, leave them alone. People need to realize that if the offender is in a secure enviornment, there is less chance of reoffending. (DOJ) So, in effect, what you are doing with your protest, is making things worse. (IMO) Now, lets look in the mirror and see what you are guilty of. Shall we drive you away, for your guilt? I hope not. Re: the anon posting who reports an offender...this site does not do anything about those you report. I suggest you contact your local police. Anon. reporting is not good enough. If you know something for a fact, then get a backbone and do something about it. Then again, it may not be true? As for the anon post about the 16 yr olds...boys are more inmature than girls at that age and do not always make correct decisions. Then again, what parents let their girls wear nowadays, makes me think the taliban may have a point in the dress code area. (ha)

a man rapped me at age 14 . i was just a child then and yet i came on this site tonite to see if he was listed and he wasn't and i would like to know why he spent a year in jail and that was it. then a few years later he rapped another girl that was 12 years old and went to jail for a few years and that is it. I would like to know why are they not listed? i'm sorry but rap on anyone is wrong as a victim of being rapped and yet they are all not listed. I'm sorry i dont care what class you are us the public should still be able to see there where abouts and make sure everyone out there know's they are wrong and a sex offender . So my question is why aren't every level listed to the public ?

Do you people in Nebraska know how the sex offenders from Iowa get away with there crimes. After they have been convicted and sentenced they are allowed to move in your state and not have to worry about being on any type of list because the state in it's great wisdom won't put you on there unless you are a level three. Just because they are not a level three does not mean they are not a threat to the community. The DA in Pott county is affraid to go after them to hard for one reason or other so they settle with a lower level. They come to Nebrasak register like they are suppost to, but what go does that do. The community needs to be warned about these people. You never stop molesting just because they are convicted. Would someone in the state of Nebraska wake up and smell the coffee? I know for a fact there is one living near 93rd Street and he is not on your list. His probation office in Iowa said he was at a vey high risk to reoffened again, but being he is not a leve three you will never see is name on this list. He could be your neighbor. He will befriend you and pull the wool over your eye's and go after your children. Nice to know that Nebraska is doing very little to keep the children safe from people like this.

Posted by Save the children (not registered) on Feb 27, 2008 02:46 PM

Garry Allen Larimore date of Birth 5/14/1954 is convicted of molesting a child under the age of 12 with intent to committ a sexual act. He is not listed on your sex offender list. Oh, that is right he came in from Iowa and he is not a level three so why worry about the kids in Nebraska?

Posted by Buttomfly on Feb 27, 2008 03:56 PM

Nebraska is not the only state like that. Minnesota is in the same bracket.

The have public officials being convicted of rape and it quickly disappears

from the radar. Their rape and domestic assault record is terrible. They

just don't care. Unless it makes national news where they have to answer

for something....they just keep moving along. The police don't even file

most reports because they don't want to follow through with the case.

If there aren't broken bones or apparent physical scars, they tell you to

go and get some counseling. This is from experience.

I think you might find that most states require an offender to register "IF required to register in the state he/she comes from. I could be wrong, but I think the federal law (adam walsh act) requires it. So the ball is in your court. (IMO)

I agree with posting level 2 and 3 sex offenders for all to see. There is a lot of discussion if it is fair to post a 16 to 19 year old boy who had sex with an under 16 girlfriend and was convicted of sex with a minor. Just because they are relatively close in age does not excuse the fact that it is still against the law. The laws were enacted because it is presumed that a person under 16 years of age is not capable of knowing / comprehending the consequences of their actions and therefore unable to consent. I believe the way to help lessen the number of people on these lists is education both at home and in our school systems, we need to make a major push for values and morality. Education 1st punishment and visibility 2nd.

Other than revange or entertainment, why would someone want a low risk offender on the site. Doesn't common sense tell you that "less is more"? i.e., the less you add offenders of lower risks, the more effective the registry will be?

Posted by Oldtimer on Jun 07, 2008 05:03 PM

I guess you are not familiar with the Federal and State Governments. This (registry) is about revenge and punishment. Certainly, anyone can show it protects no one from abuse. I agree with your "less concept", but that does not bring in more federal money and grants. Someone needs to show local officials how much money they could make from traffic violations, instead.

Posted by Danielle (not registered) on Jul 03, 2008 02:43 PM

I am a victim of childhood sexual asult. I was abused for 7 years (ages 3-11) . He had vaginal intercorse with me and was charged with that crime on 3 counts as well as 1 count of inserting his fingers into my vagina. The problem is my family and I are really the only ones in Nebraska that know that because he is registerd as a level 2 sex offender and that information is not public knowlage. This is in no way shape or form protecting our comunity. If someone whom sexually abuses a child for a period of 7 years almost daily is not considered "most likly to re-offend" then I would like to know who is!!! Unfortunally it is not oly level 3 sex offenders who damage and threaten our children and community. I think its time for us to join together and protect our children. Its time to join together and change the current laws that protect the identity of offenders to better protect our children!! 6-2-08

Posted by Oldtimer on Jul 06, 2008 09:51 AM

Danielle: Fine, but the registry is not the way to do it. It protects no one and in fact gives a false sense of security. IMO Seeing the man down the street does not protect your child from grandpa or uncle Al. Most offense is not done by the man down the street, but rather, by someone that is intimate with your family (according to statistics) All the registry does, is hassle families and people that are putting their lives back together and giving snoopy people something to talk about IMO.

Posted by Anonymous (not registered) on Feb 21, 2009 03:31 AM

yep protesting at the offenders house is going to stop the problem. while your standing out there doing your selfish riot. someone in coopertown is messing with a kid.

Posted by Susan (not registered) on Mar 01, 2009 02:40 PM

In the case of Danielle that posted, that WAS a family member & not some yahoo down the street. As a matter of fact that was my favorite brother/ her uncle. He did it right in my home & I had no idea. I & her dad were very good parents & tried to keep them out of harms way, but he was to smooth & we had no Idea until she reported it to her school. He also did it to my older daughter. He made my son watch. He was sentenced for Danielle & that was it. 3 years in the pen for 7 plus years of crime. HE told me he even sniffed my undergarments! The man is sick, he learned how to not get caught again while he was getting "treatment". He gets out & has sex with a 16 year old & he is registered as a level 1 now, use to be 2. He is registered & picture posted in Iowa where the crime was commited. He moves to Nebraska & shhhh.....Now I have grandkids that I try & keep him from. With Danielles help. T.S.A. look him up on the Iowa registry. He has even lied to people & says that he was convicted of sex with an 16 year old whom he thought was 18, just so he doen't have to tell the truth. Let me tell ya, nobody horasses us because of him as long as they know the truth.

Posted by Susan (not registered) on Mar 03, 2009 01:25 AM

I read over my posting & noticed it was edited on the "abusers" name. Which is ok, if that is what you need to do, but his initals are T.A.S.. If you can include birthday for thoes looking, it is 9/30/1972.

My daughter is doing a persuasive speech on sex offenders which is going to be really hard as she and her younger sibling were both molested. Instead of all the people who don't know what its like to be a victim of a sex crime trying to figure out what the punishment should be maybe we should ask the victims what they want done. These sites are informational but only provide limited information. This is something that affects the victims for the rest of their lives no matter how much help they receive. Let them decide!

Posted by john smith (not registered) on Aug 28, 2010 03:44 AM

People you should be assumming about sex offenders when you here the word sex offender you automatically think of children when not all sex offenders have a crime against a child, crime against adults too shame on you.

Did you know?
While drugs and alcohol are often involved in sexual assaults, drugs and alcohol do not cause sexual offenses to occur. Rather, drug and alcohol use may be a disinhibitor for the offender, while being under the influence may increase a potential victim's vulnerability.
