If you feel a registered offender may be abusing a child, or their own children, is there a way to report it anonymously?

I feel sick everytime I try to respond to these kind of blogs. This topic is not a simple one at all. My oldest son was falsely accused by an 8 yr. old girl of sexually abusing her about 13 yrs. ago. Last year she finally told the truth. Why did she lie? She was jealous of my son's involvement with her older sister and she was encouraged to say this about my son because her grandmother and a nosy gossipy woman who didn't like my son's looks encouraged her. She said she was trying to think of a way to break up my son's relationship with her older sister.

This girl living in an extremely dysfunctional family with a mother and sister who were drug addicts and prostitutes. She also had 3 uncles who were all criminals, one a convicted sexual abuser. Anyway, my son's case is under appeal for a second time. It's very very hard to undo a plea and if you don't think you'd take a plea if you were innocent, you don't know enough about the way our system works.

I have read a great deal about this registry and these laws. A large majority of the people on the registry are not dangerous and have not harmed "children". Some were just over the age of consent themselves and had consentual sex with a girl 15 or 16. Some, like my nephew who had sex with a 15 (2 weeks shy of 16) yr. old prostitute and it certainly was censensual, no harm,etc. These people are all listed on the registry as felons and "violent sex offenders". The registry is the worst criminal offense on our justice system because it encourages the suicides, homicides that have happened.

Most people don't know or care about any of this but it is real. I am a psychotherapist and there are disturbed people out there who thrive on hysteria. This is THE easiest thing to get people whipped up into a frenzy about. Politicians, aggressive states attorneys and the media all use this for their own purposes. Since 9-11, there has been a terrible level of fear in America. Unscrupulous people have taken advantage of this. No one wants to protect true sex offenders but these laws & the registry is like a modern inquisition. Even if some of these men did deserve some kind of legal punishment, when there was no medical harm and the person was not a repeat offender (which the big majority are not !), then putting them together with people who are truly dangerous is a terrible abuse of our justice system.

i was raped in 1998 and the gut who raped me got off easy! they gave him 6 months in jail and a few years probation. he was recently released from the sex offeders list. I think that is wrong! people do change, but I feel everyone has the right to know when some one is a rapist or a pedifile. People who committ sex crimes should be on the regestry until they die, not until they are released from probation. If it wasn't for this registry i would have never known that the man who raped me moved down the street from he. I was wondering why I was seeing him alot, come to find out he was living like 3 blocks from my home. the state use to notify you when a sex offender was moving to the area, but they don't do it anymore. Now I get scared to leave my home alone. The man who assulted me now knows were I live! and the police told me that they can't do any thing until he does some thing to me. My feeling is if he raped me once how do I know that he won't again. I don't care how much he has changed he has taken a part of me that I will never get back! In my eyes he will always be a rapist.

I THINK ALL REGISTER SEX OFFENDERS SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO LIVE IN MPH CAUSE THERE ARE LITTLE KIDS THERE.

i think that this site is fine when it comes to violent offenders or preditors however there are some cases in which this site does nothing. Take in consideration a case about a friend that i have he was convicted of rape in the second degree in New York. However this man was 18 yaears old and the female that he met not only lied to him but she provided a fake id to him when he questioned her about her age. He only had sex with her under the assumption that they were the same age now why should this man be on this site or anyother

I feel the the delaware sex offender registry controdicts itself. Point blank! If 1 commits a sex offence, NOt once....BUT twice & was convicted....how can that person (the offender) have a label of a "tier 1"??? 1 count on each offence, in the 2nd & 3rd degee??? But YET....the offender does NOT have to be on Delawares Registry??? But he (the offender) & his picture & the 2 crimes he commited in DELAWARE IS registered in another state....& HE NEVER LIVED IN THAT OTHER STATE !! I just can't understand Delaware's law. HE SHOULD BE REGISTERED !!!! THANK U

More info should be posted about the offenders. A close relative of mine is now a convicted sex offender for unlawful sexually contact with a minor. When he was 18 he was having sex with his 17 year old girlfriend. Her parents found out and had him brought up on charges so now for the next 10 or 15 years he has to report to his job that he is a convicted sex offender. T he law is black and white but some people are in the grey. Just remember that before you judge people so quickly.

i read, hunnie- pollyklass.org is a great source of information on keeping your kids safe. i KNOW in most cases someone i know would be the molester, not a stanger off the street. but i use this site to help pick a place to live so that i am not surrounded by offeders. (do you know Megan's Law? the reason for this site???!!)



but thanks for the tips. my son and i are very open in communication, and he knows about people touching "private" areas, and people trying to hurt him. i am doing all i can to raise him healthy, happy, and safe.

See, this is what I dont understand. How is picking a place where there are no sex offenders keeping your child safe from them? Have you researched his baseball team, his summer camp, his dentist, his gym coach, his teachers, the quiet neighbor that is NOT on the registry? He needs to be street smart and educated and good communication with YOU will make him safe. Not where you see as a safety zone. Remember : most rape is done by people you KNOW. As a cop. He will tell you that.

Thank you for keeping this site! I have told all of my friends- with and without kids- about it. Everyone deserves to be safe, and not every offender registered on this site is a child molester, some are on for rape and battery of adults.

I am about to move to a new city, and have researched all of the offenders in that area. This site has helped me pick an area that will keep my son safe from people who don't need to be around him.
