Persons who have been arrested or charged with a sex offense are not required to register unless the arrest or charge results in a conviction. This list contains offenders who have registered and those who are required to register.

i think the sex offender tag is to general, any one who commits any crime should be delt with on a case to case condition. some sex offences or so minor that they should be dismissed. like my brother who touched a womens right breast while in a bar fight with her boyfriend , she pressed charges and he got 7 years and has to register as an offender. over something this minor. the system needs help.

Everyone has an opinion. And that's good. Not everyone shares the same opinion of who and what we should call a sex offender. Isn't it great we all have something to hate. Brings the country together as a whole. Now you know how great Nazi Germany would have been. But we are different. We as a people have all good information. Just like the people in Germany. they had all good information on the Jews. Or did they? fire up the furnaces boys we have a new group to fry.

I'm looking into buying another home and I am a widow and need to find out what the neighborhood is like and to make sure there are no sex offenders around that area. Can't seem to get info on this.
anon june12: Don't be silly. Letting where sex offenders live, control your life is a bit foolish. Keep in mind, it is the offender NOT on the registry that is your real concern. IMHO).

For those who actually take this stuff and their children's safety seriously, you should know a few things about Alaska. Alaska has no such thing as Statutory Rape. Their laws regarding sex and minors are so convoluted it takes a college degree to decipher which activities are illegal and what is not. Beaware. Because even in Anchorage, the largest city in Alaska, the public schools do not teach it to their students. Also, this Sex Offender Registry was edited because of an Alaska Supreme Court decision that let almost all convictions prior to 1999 be removed. That meanst most of the people with convictions prior to 1999 got to be removed from this list also. That means this list is of the sex offenders just since 1999. It certainly does not at all included most of the convicted sex offenders in Alaska. Alaska has the least amount of laws restricting sex crimes in the USA. And it has one of the consistantly worst rates of sexual assault anyway. Be aware if you are considering moving to Alaska. Especially, with children.

does a sex offender need to notify employer of them?
Posted by mike (not registered) on Jun 30, 2009 07:01 AM
You can if you want to but you don't have to tell your employer its not againest the law. I always tell my employers. This way its not a suprise when the background check comes back.
Did you know?
While drugs and alcohol are often involved in sexual assaults, drugs and alcohol do not cause sexual offenses to occur. Rather, drug and alcohol use may be a disinhibitor for the offender, while being under the influence may increase a potential victim's vulnerability.
