The offenders listed on the Oklahoma County Sheriff website are the offenders that the Oklahoma County Sheriff's Office is responsible for monitoring. In Oklahoma, the offenders must register with the agency that has jurisdiction over the offender's place of residence and the Department of Corrections. The ones listed on the County website are the ones that are registered with the Sheriff's Office and live in the unincorporated areas of Oklahoma County. The offenders that live within a CITY'S jurisdiction will be registered with that agency, such as Oklahoma City Police or Warr Acres Police, etc.

Yes there is very much sexual abuse in oklahoma, the children unfortunately are not protected and DHS are not only not doing their job, they accept money as a bribe to let those who sexual ly abuse go free.

HELP ... HOW can we place all sex offenders in one catagory ? This is not fair , this is not correct ... A guy that makes a comment can be put under the same catagory as a guy that drugged some kid and raped her . HOW can we label them all the same ? Who and What can you do to appeal a case , that is not right ... I have a friend who has to register as sex offender and carry that label and he did nothing . Some girl standing outside a store decided she'd twist his comment , he said " Don't you think that skirts a little short ?" she turned it to ," Wait here , after your done selling candy , I will take you behind the building to have foreplay." He was 21 at the time , but on about an 16 to 18 year old level (guys running 3 to 4 years behind girls) she was 15 , but looked 19 or so ...He had to plea guilty at trial , due to them already having a mind set he was ( the d.a. , etc.) They were trying for 28 years locked up , he ended up by pleaing guilty (which he was not) he got 4 months locked up and 10 years probation . Which is still not right , he should of never been punished for being innocent ... He now is locked up again for failure to register , which they also revoked suspended sentence , they gave him 4 years and 8 months ( he should not be there) It is almost impossible to register , expecially when you dont have home or apartment cause you can't rent , because first thing they look at is your label . This friend of mine is about ready to give up , he is tired of trying to fight his TRUTH , WHY WON"T ANYONE HELP , WHY WONT ANYONE FREE HIM , WHY WONT ANYONE LISTEN TO THE TRUTH , everyone tells me whats done is done .... The guy deserves a happy , normal life ... SHE gets to have a normal life and she's the one that should be punished for this horrible lie !

That person now lives , wondering "Why me?" , " Secluding themselves , thinking someone else could lie on them , could make up anything , could heartlessly ruin the rest of there life. That person has paid out so much in court costs , laywer fees , and now on top of everything , can never , ever , have any kids or wife/ husband of their own ... And if they did they couldnt live in the same house . They couldn't watch their kid/kids go from bottles and diapers to saying their first word, to learning to ride their bike without training wheels, they couldnt be involved with their child/children to watch them grow-up , they couldn't be their for their wife ... How is that normal ?

I was always told a lonely/idle mind is a devils playground ... We seclude these individuals , guilty and not guitly ....WHY ? DOESNT THAT GIVE THEM MORE OPPURTUNITY TO THINK ABOUT IT , IF THEY ARE GUILTY? and IF NOT GUILTY AND WRONGFULLY ACCUSSED , THEN IT GIVES THEM MORE TIME TO THINK ON HOW THEY SHOULD JUST KILL THEMSELVES BECAUSE THEY WILL NEVER BE ACCEPTED BECAUSE SOME GIRL OR GUY WAS TRYING TO BE LIAR , to look good , to play a cruel sick joke , OH YES LET THEM GO , LET THEM HAVE A GOOD LIFE , EVEN THO THEY ARE THE ONES THAT LIED

Let me tell you something all of you.... My son at age 23 met a girl whol claimed she was 19 yrs. old... We met her mother who knew my son was 23 yrs old.. We believed her age cause she looked 19 yrs old and had no reason to not believer her.. Come to find out; she was only 15 yrs old.. When I found out I immediately called me son to tell him and he wrote her off... She in turn got mad and cried rape and now my son is a registered sex offender for the rest of his life.... I believe that this is injustice... She lied and he is looked upon as a predator who harms little girls, when in reality he would never get near one under the age of 18 yrs...Now he will never be able to see his little girl in any school plays, or recitals; or be able to take her to a park all because of a lie and no other proof ! In my eyes and anyone who knows him; knows that he would never harm any child, but now society will see him as being a threat ! The law needs to change there laws in sex offenders... For the real bad ones who long to prey on children, should not be in the category of the ones who are truly not a threat... It amazes me how a 15 yr. old can lie doesn't know what she is doing, but if she committed murder, she would be tried as an adult.. Give me a break ! An 18yr.old who was with a girl just a few years under him is now also a convicted sex offender just because he is now 18 when .. He was giong out with this girl for a few years before he turned 18, so how does that work? My gosh these guys have got to watch who they go out with and now a sophmore in high school can no longer date a junior or senior cause he may end up carrying the label as a sex offender ! Give me a break.... We need to find a way to change the way these laws are in making innocent men not in the same category of down right criminal sex offenders.

My son age sixteen met a girl at a club for sixteen to twenty year olds.. They hooked up and then he was questioned by police he admitted the truth yes they had sex twice. He learned then she was only thirteen and lied about her age.. She admitted she did but DA picked up case and charged my son with two counts of sex abuse. He was gonna do twenty years so we took a plea cause state says she is not old enough to say yes to sex yet bet your sweet boots if she killed someone she be damn old enough to be charged as an adult and not let go cause she ain't old enough to know what she was doing.
My son isnow a registered sex offender at age seventeen for ten years. He cannot play ball at park hell he got kicked out of school he was a senior cause he is a "liability" to other girls on campus? Is this justice? Is this what these sex offener laws were meant to do? My son was a victim IMO as he was lied too.
Our states are going to far and convicting innocent young boys and men of consentual sex acts and its got to stop before it ruins many young lives.

To the women that has the sixteen year old son. I can't believe that she got nothing for what she did. She should have more responsibility for what she did than your son. If he honestly didn't know then why should he be held for what that little girl lied about. He should be able to go to school and not have any problems. HE should be able to walk down the street and not worry if eveyone knows that he is a registered offender, but maybe everyine should know then we can all try to make sure it doesn't happen to anyone else. It shouldn't of happened to him in the first place.

I truly believe that repeat offenders should have to remain behind bars for their entire life. I also think that first time offenders deserve a chance. They serve their punishemnt...then leave them alone. Also, why should someone who had no real victim (such as internet crime), be forced to be on the same registry as rapists and other truly dangerous people? There are no "divisions in the seriousness of these crimes. I don't think the general public realizes how "out of hand" some of these laws are getting. Offenders in Tulsa think it's bad there because there are so many schools that it's hard to find a place to live......try living in a small town!! enough is enough

My 22 year old son is in the same position as a lot of the people on here. He had sex with a 15 year old girl that said she was 18. He did not hurt anyone. (In her report she stated that he didn't do anything she didn't want him to.) I almost wished they had kept in jail. It is impossible for him to find a place to live with all the restrictions, he can't find a job because he doesn't have a GED, now he has a felony, anything else there are usually minors working. Since he can't get a job he has a hard time paying his court costs, probation officer, sex offender class, etc, plus he is suppose to pay like $400 every three months for a lie detector test. There is no way he can give the mother of his son any money. It is getting to the point he would be better off in jail. At least he would have a place to live and wouldn't have all these costs. I am not saying what he did wasn't wrong. But the punishment doesn't fit the crime. He served his jail time that should be enough. You don't get that much punishment if you kill someone. These young men are paying for the rest of their lives

There are only 16 sex offenders registered in Oklahoma because the rest are still in the prison systems. And some do not make it out alive because when the other prisoners find out what they've done and that it was done to a child they get very angry. And what do most of them have to lose? Nothing !!! So they take their anger out on the perverts.

My son is also in the same place served 3yrs in and 2yrs probation the girl nor her family pressed any charges the D.A. did. He even went in on his own to give a statement, how many guilty people do that. It's wrong and something has got to change. It is going to take all of us comming together to do it. These girls know exactly what they are doing.

There should be NO TOLERANCE! If these guys put themselves into questionable positions and get into trouble then they must face those consequences. I have a little girl and it sickens me to know these losers are out in the streets!!! It is difficult to rehabilitate a sex affender and why should we even take the chance and let them out of prison. From the smallest of sex offence to the worst they should always remain locked up. These crimes have got to STOP!! I blame all forms of pornography for the progression of these men's illness of sex abusiveness. There should be laws against pornography. It is a proven fact that porn is an addiction that always leads men to act on these demonic fantasies (sex offence). The laws are not hard enough on these guys.

You refer to "men" as if they are all animals??? Women are sexual offenders too. Are you sure that the real problem lies in what has happened to you in the past and you need to deal with that, rather than labeling all offenders? Some people to make mistakes in their lives and it is well documented that not all offenders reoffend.

Seven years ago my daughter accuss my husband of molesting her (which was untrue and everyone that knew her knew it was untrue). His lawyer recommended he plead no contect, said all he would have to do was some probation and WOULD NOT HAVE TO REGISTER AS SEX OFFENDER. He took the lawyers advice so my children(the acusser and my other daughter) would not have to go through a trail. Now seven years later the police show up at our home and said he had to register or go to jail. If we had known this would happen we would have went to trail because he is innocent. We are told we cant take it back to court and he has to register for life. The only thing my husband is guilty of is taking bad advise from a lawyer. We have lived in the same house and community for 9 years and are now being shunned, harrased, and threatened. This is unfair and I fear for our safety, mostly my daughter's safety. We cant find anyone that can help or will even try without a huge sum of money up front. I'm so afraid.

scared: Fear NOT! The legislature claims that registration is NOT punishment (eventhough you describe it as so. ) That is why registration is civil law: so that you cannot say it is double jeapardy. Believe me, your government choose sex offenders rather than alcoholics or other group to register because THEY KNOW YOU CANT PAY FOR LEGAL ASSISTANCE. Many on the registry cannont find job and such. If you had money, You might be able to fight these outdated laws.(IMHO)

If sex offenders are not to be rehabilitated, then give them a life sentence. But, if they are going to be out in society, then rehabilitation should be attempted instead of letting them out of prison and off parole and then give them another life sentence, which is all that it is. If this isn't double jeopardy I can't imagine what would be. A armed robber or murderer could be living next door, they don't have to register.
Lawmakers keep making it rougher because it gets more votes, it's a popular subject. Persons that have not had it to affect their families don't understand at all.
The levels according to the crimes need to be revamped.

I believe that it is easy to say that sex offenders deserve what they have coming to them when it is a stranger. But think of this person as your brother, someone that you have loved your whole life and see if this does not change the way you see it. It is always easy to hate those type of people until you are in a situation where you cannot no matter how hard you try. I believe it is a sad thing for any party involved. I do not think that most sex offenders want to be the way they are. I hope not atleast. I guess I am hopeful in believing that people actually feel remorse for these people instead of hate. I hated them once too. I just wish that they could come forward and get help before they cause such pain.

I can't beleive most of these comments I live with an offender, i'm in love with an offender. If any of you women have children they need to be taken. Any person, man or women that violates a child for their sexual pleasure should be eliminated period. If any man or woman violates my babies in any way I don't even care their related to me Im taken your sick ass out and will gladly take what comes with it.

The laws were based on the myth that recidivism rate was high for sex offenders. The entertainment news media and politicians for ratings and votes perpetuated this myth until we have laws based on emotion and not fact. As a result, the laws do "more harm than good." In fact the laws as they are written actually endanger our children and the whole of society. The laws protect no one.
Please visit www.cfcoklahoma.org. We have many articles relevant to Oklahoma, as well as studies on recidivism and much more.
For example:
US Department of Justice, 2003
http://www.ojp.usdoj.gov/bjs/pub/press/rsorp94pr.htm
• Sample size – 9,700 sex offenders
• Length of time – 3 years
• Re-offense trigger – reconviction (Doesn't mean a new sex crime)
• Results – 5.3% sexual offence. 3.3% child molestation.
* Released prisoners with the highest rearrest rates were robbers (70.2%), burglars (74.0%), larcenists (74.6%), motor vehicle thieves (78.8%), those in prison for possessing or selling stolen property (77.4%), and those in prison for possessing, using, or selling illegal weapons (70.2%).
* Within 3 years, 2.5% of released rapists were arrested for another rape, and 1.2% of those who had served time for homicide were arrested for homicide.
* The 272,111 offenders discharged in 1994 had accumulated 4.1 million arrest charges before their most recent imprisonment and another 744,000 charges within 3 years of release.

my husband is in the same situation. He is innocent but has to report as a sex offender. He was 10 years old, when an inncident took place with him and his stepsister, and sister... they were kids and wanted to experiment. the girls were 3 years younger than he was. once the parents found out, they were told to stop. in my opiion they should of kept a closer eye on the kids, and made sure it didn't happen again. some years later, it continued again, the girls would write him letters, asking him to come into thier room when the parents were in bed. By this time, my husband, was 17 or 18 not sure...when he said NO, they got mad and told on him to their parents, and went to the police. All this started when he was a child himself, and he tried to stop it... but was afraid of his stepdad, cuz he threathend him if it ever happened again. but that blew up i his face. no the girls are playing the victims, the stepsister is a lesbian, and my husband is taking all the shit. He has a wife and kid. And we don't want to bring our child up in this environment. we need to get this off of his background..even though it started while he was a child himself, they charged him as an adult. and has to report for life now. since we all are in the same position, we should figure something out. by the way, I'm from chicago, IL.
