According to Jackie Dermody, deputy chief probation officer of LaPorte Circuit Court, the only way to ensure that convicted sex offenders don?t offend again is to keep them in prison.

these are very sick people. my brother raped my baby sister for years. and when she finally came forward our parents did not believe it. these people need to be sent to a diserted island and fend for themselves. no way back. that is were they will die. its sick that the system is letting people out of jail to hurt our children. but yet if you rob a bank you get put away. the system is failing all of us out here just trying to get by. they need to be put in the shoes of all the little boys and girls these perverts hurt. maybe then they will put these sick people in jail. i dont pay taxes for these people to be out on the streets. i should not have to worry if my neighbor is a sex offender ready to pounce on my kids or someone elses.

Shannon! Sorry for your really sad experience. This world is evil. Only Jesus Christ can save it. That's why he came and died, even for sex offenders.

i think that if a sex offender should have there address posted no matter what. there should be no such thing as being covered by an injunction anymore. meaning everone should know where they lived. no matter what level, whether it's 1,2,or 3. they took away privacy and our lives. why should they have theirs. and we should be able to look them up online without paying.give us a website we can go to with address and picture of them now.

FOr those of you who want the truth in why there is the laws we have now, I urge you to goto:

Families, Citizens & Professionals
WORKING TOGETHER to reform Megan's Law

SOhopeful International is working with families, citizens and professionals to change the way Megan's Law and similar legislation mandates the registration, tracking and community notification of non-violent, low risk sex offenders. We are making this effort in order to strengthen the Sex Offender Registry (SOR) and make it more effective, to help it to accomplish what it was originally intended to do.

We can better protect the public and especially children from sexual abuse and assault. It requires a hard, honest look at where our public policy is lacking, and put the onus for protecting children from predation back on the parents, not on the children themselves. We need to have the political will to end the "feel-good" and "knee-jerk" victim-named laws that are doing precious little to actually protect anyone.

Our Position on Sexual Crimes
It is important to understand that we do not in any way condone or excuse abuse of any form, especially of a sexual nature; all abuse is intolerable. We do not make excuses for former offenders or their offense.

I GET SO TIRED OF HEARING PEOPLE STATE THAT CHILD MOLESTATION IS PUT ON THE PARENTS. I AGREE IT SHOULD NOT BE PUT ON THE CHILDREN IT IS NOT THERE FAULT WHAT SO EVER. BUT NOT ALL PARENTS ARE TO BE AT FAULT, YES THERE ARE SOME WHOM ARE AT FAULT, BUT NOT ALL. PEOPLE NEED TO UNDERSTAND SOMETIMES THINGS BAD HAPPEN IN LIFE AND YES IT SEEMS WITHIN PEOPLE OR FAMILY WE TRUST WITH OUR HEART AND SOUL, THAT'S NOT A PARENTS FAULT THAT IS A OFFENDERS. I KNOW MY SON WAS MOLESTED BY A FAMILY MEMBER, THAT HE LOVED SO, BUT NOW HATES. I HAVE BEEN THROUGH THE COURT SYSTEMS FOR ALMOST A YEAR NOW, AND JASXON MATTHEW DOBSON GOT 7 YEARS IN PRISION, 85% PERSCENT OF THAT 7 YEAR SENTENCE SEARVED, LIFE LONG PREDITOR. THAT MAY BE LONG TOO SOME PEOPLE BUT NOT TO US. MY SON HAS A LIFE LONG SENTENCE SO SHOULD JASON DOBSON. THIS YEAR HAS BEEN A HELL FOR MY SON, AND FOR MY FAMILY, AND TO BE BLUNT, THE STATE TREATED JASON BETTER THEN MY SON THE VIC... I WAS THE REASON MY SON GOT THERPY, AND HELP (NOT THAT I AM COMPLAINING) THE STATE NEVER ASKED, OR TRYED TOO HELP. BUT YET, WHEN JASON ENTERS PRISION HE GETS FREE THERPY, AND EDUCATION? NOT TOO ALSO THROW IN, HE WENT TOO PRISION ON MARCH 27TH, 2007, AND WITHIN 2 WEEKS HE HAS ALREADY VIOLATED THE LIFE LONG INJUNCTION, AND SENT THINGS TOO MY SON. I REPORTED IT, AND AM IN THE PROCESS NOW OF PRESSING MORE CHARGES THROUGH THE STATE, BUT THEY ARE WANTING TOO LET THIS GO BECAUSE HE IS ALREADY IN JAIL, THERE AGAIN PROTECTING JASON OVER MY SON, THE VICTIUM. YES THEY HAVE ALL THESE LAWS IN THESE POOR CHILDREN NAMES, BUT YET THEY WAIT UNTIL IT IS TOO LATE BEFORE THEY PUT THEM INTO EFFECT, HOW IS THAT FAIR TOO THE CHILDREN, OR THE PERSONS NAME THE LAWS IN? WERE PROMISEING TOO PROTECT OUR CHILDREN THROUGH THESE LAWS, AND I HAVE YET TOO SEE THAT HAPPEN. I KNOW I COME OFF ANGREY, BUT TOO BE HONEST I AM, MY SON GOT MOLESTED, THE STATE DOES'NT CARE, THE LAWS SUCK, AND WHEN IT COMES TOO HAVEING A INJUNCTION ON A PERSON WHOM HURT YOUR CHILD, AND THEY DO NOT CARE ENOUGH TOO DO THE PROPER AND RIGHT THING, WHY IN THE HELL HAVE A LIFE LONG INJUNCTION? I WILL NOT EVER UNDERSTAND, UNTIL SOMETHINGS DONE.

I was seventeen a senior in high school and my freshman girl friend of three months we got caught skipping school her parents himmed her up and she admitted we had been together. They filed charges on me for aggravated sexual assault of a child. I received 10 years of probation in which i did six and a half years of. Paying a court cost of $1,500 and 300 hours of communtiy service. A total of 80 months of reporting to the probation department and paying $40 a month $3,200 total. My case is considered moderate even now at 33 years old. I have three kids myself three months ago I was notified by the principle of my son that I am not allowed to come to the school and have lunch with my son anymore because my name came up in there watch dog system as a sex offender. I have to register for life take a new picture at the local police department give fingerprints get a new driver license every year. I recently moved to a new city where now I am required to pay $500.00 to the municple court to live in the area we chose. Of course if we would have know this earlier we probably would have not settled where we did. My picture is sent out in local papers and of course I am all over the internet.

I am a born again filled with the Holy Spirit believer own my on business have three kids, serve my community, and serve my Church. What are your thoughts about my case? I am in the same catogories and restriction if I had been 50 years old and raped a ten year old is that justice.

I don't understand how they can call you a offender, or have made you go through all that just because of what happened between you and your girlfriend. Number one you both agreed to the sex, and it was not forced upon, Number two the parents should have understood that most of todays teenagers have sex, and that their daughter was not the inn.. one either, and honestly the judge should have saw through that. The sadd part of all this is the States, and the Laws are useing the wrong type of ages for the Offender lables, and the ones that should be labled are not, and let out, or let go, in hopes they do not re-offend again. I hate to hear storys like yours, it breaks my heart to know that you have to be labled, and known as something you truely are not, and have to pay the price for something that was both agreed upon. Another thing the girl should have been labled too, I mean she had sex as well, why is it only the guys? Maybe your mom should have pressed charges as well on her, I know it sounds wrng, but why should you have to pay the price for something you both did, (Which was not wrong) I have a son who was molested by his Uncle, and he is now in prision, but not long, as well as a named Preditor for life, as he should be, but look at you and your situation, he is not getting hafe as bad as you, and you honestly did what? what most teenagers do exp.. think they are in love, and always remember their first, or their true love, and because of that now look at you? I hope that in time Laws will change on people like your situation, and make it harsher on the true offenders. Good Luck Tammy (Hexgirl)

I agree that the true molesters should be imprisoned for life, obviously they are very sick individuals, to prey upon our children. I do have something to say about the "statutory' rape convictions. This one touches me personally, my son was 19 when he was convicted of having sex with his 15(almost 16) year old girlfriend. They had dated for almost a year before anything happened, she was his first girlfriend, his love, and they wanted to get married. He is now in prison, and when he gets out,has to register as a "sex offender" He is just as disgusted in that crime as anyone else, and is appalled by "baby rapers" I really wish the law would change regarding this"crime" there are so many young men whose lives, and the lives of their families are ruined.
