i believe people need think about the laws they are asking for ,i would rather know a sexoffender was right next door then not know where they live at all. i think with the new laws we are asking for them to hide .cause we dont seem to give them a second chance ,not all of them will hurt agin . i have been abused my self as a child ,but i still know that all of them cant be helped .

I am very concerned about child sexual predators who come from Illinois into Iowa for work. I can't believe they don't have to register. There is a man working with a local youth group at Cedar Memorial Christian Church in Davenport, and the church will do nothing about it!

I must admit that I'm one of those adults who fell short in fighting the war against sexual offenders. When my husband disclosed to me several years ago that his adoptive father propositioned him to let him have sex with him during their life together, I didn't put on the armor I should have. Instead of shunning his adoptive father and encouraging my husband to steer away from having anything to do with him, I allowed him to remain in our lives and continue to confuse and distort my husbands mind. I feel like a failure; weak. HOWEVER, it's not too late. I've always felt that everything happens for a reason, so instead of lingering on what I "should have" done, my husband and I have been blessed with an opportunity to actually do it! His adoptive father is now a national public figure in the black community, and we're using his fame as an opportunity to increase awareness about sexual offenders - specifically, those who prey on children.

Why do people have to register if they were released on or after January 1,1995 and the ones released December 31,1994 don't? We are talking about a one day margin here... And how is making people register
going to stop or prevent them from committing another offense? The whole thing is a joke and nothing more than politicians and law enforcement trying to cover their lacking abilities to stop this awlful thing of our childern being abused and to get votes! No matter how you approach the matter someone's constutional rights are being invaded...which is wrong!
I don't have the answers...but some people don't care about the laws no matter what they are...so making new laws that are more stern ain't gonna change things...it's a spiritual problem that laws can't control. Nuff Said

How does any of the laws stop some one who is not on the registery? A sex offender can't live 2000 feet near a school but who knows who is going to be a sex offender? I live in a town where sex offenders can't live here at all. But if they haven't been caught they can live in this town. This town is offender. Sex offenders are the new group they hate. They hated mexicans in the 80s, they hated blacks in the 70s, gays in the 90s. Don't get me wrong they still hate all of them. They use the laws to keep them out of their town. Sex offenders are not the problem our goverment is.

Offenders are fighting and winning some of these residency laws. They clearly are additional punishment in most cases. True, offenders should not be allowed to hang out with children. But, they should be allowed to live where they want and work at a job without being harrassed. They need to reconnect with society after incarceration, as do all former crimnals. (IMHO)

Mike,
You should have lost your wife, kids, etc... That is sick. How could a father touch his child in a way sexually? You sound like you need help, and for the rest of your life in that manner. Your lucky your children still love you after what you did too your daughter, and you say your a good person!!! A good person does'nt touch their children, daughter, what ever in a sexual manner, and it sounds like you got off luck from the State, which seems to happen to SOB's like yourself, and then you have people who do not offend, because its both con... and they are getting the book thrown at them, your story on here is alot of reasons why people read things on this sight just too see how the State really is unfair to vic.. and their famly's. At least you can forgive your self, and your children can, but your ex-wife did the best thing a mother could do, leave your ass, and go!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HEX

SURE, LETS PLAY HOW MANY PEOPLE WE CAN MESS UP. BEFORE WE DO SOMETHING, AND SEE IF WE KEEP LRTTING THESE S.O.B.'S OUT, IF THEY WILL CHANGE? WHAT EVER!!! ( THE TRUE OFFENDERS, AND PREDITORS) TAMMY RICH HEX, HEXGIRL FLORIDA
Do you think we can stop sexual offense, Hex? It has been around since before Christ. We can only work to make things better (IMO)

Once an offender always an offender. I don't care how old you were when you or someone you know offended the fact of the matter is, the person still offended. It is not fair to people that have kids and don't know that people are on the registry, or cant find them on the registry and then all of a sudden you find out some body is. If you offend you DESERVE to be PUBLICALLY HUMILIATED and you deserve to have your name posted on every site that has a registry listing.
Be the registry right or wrong, your comment is additional proof that the registry is "double jeapardy" for some people. You want the offender humiliated as "punishment". It is not YOUR right to punish, nor the state registry. (IMO) It is the job of the courts to punish. Sometimes I wonder where the constitution went wrong...
