washington county al did not register a convicted sexual offender for over five years .He registered in 2000 but washington county did not send the information on so he could be registered.I started asking questions about why he was not registered on Monday 10/30/06 and by 11/01/06 he had went to the sheriff,'s office to register. When I ask on monday why he was nnot registered the only anwser I received was "I don't know".I called the Attorney General's office and reported that he was not registed and when they started making phone calls, all at once the guy registered.I feel someone in the washington county sheriff's office did not want the guy on the sexual offenders list and when I started making noise they called him but as far as I know did not arrest him for not reporting for the years 2001-2005.I did find out after talking to alot of people in law enforcement that washington county sheriff's office does not follow up on sex offenders and this has been known for a long time. This sex offender was arrested in 2003. for sexual abuse on a 16 year old and the charge was dropped by the DA and still he did not register and no one in sheriff's dept checked He was on probation in washington county at the time for his prior sexual crime. The sheriff knows this man so why did he go for six years without making the alabama sexual offenders register. The only person who was concerned about this guy not being registered was Chief Harkless in Millry,Al. I feel if you know the right people in washington county,Al you don't have to register. The parent's in Washington County should be worried

If Alabama has the toughest sex affenders law why am I having such a hard time finding Julius Farahkhan AKA JJ on any of your sites?
Posted by: Nate (not registered) on January 04, 2007 at 06:42 am
My concern is still as before why is the state of Alabama letting these sex offenders like JJ run the streets without a lease on them? The Governor stated that Alabama would have the toughest sex offender law in the country, but when I look for sex offenders like JJ I have to look at several sites before I can find them. ( It took me a month to find JJ) Oh and don't let me forget that the address JJ provided the people in the neighborhood said they don't know the young guy and they don't think he lives in there neighborhood

Youtful Offender should not be given to sexual offenders. My 10 year old daughter is currently in the custody of her father and her step brother is a asexual offender. it was very difficult to present his status to the judge because he waqs given "youthful offender" status. His name should be platered all over every sexual offender registry Alabama has. He was convicted of second dgree rape but does no have to register as an offender. I am climbing on board for tougher sentecing of sexual offenders. Let the drug addicts go they are killing themselves. Keep the sexual offenders they are killing our children!!!!!!!

I agree with several post already submitted on this topic. I have also seached this site for the sex offender Julius Farahkhan aka JJ to no avail. Which means either, no one reads the posts of concerned citizens and hurt families, or someone scans them and ignores them. Probablity leads me to believe this disregard to fix the JJ error is not an isolated case. Therefore infamous criminals like JJ are lurking the streets, unbeknownst to families that use this very website as a safety precation before sending thier daughters out to jump rope. People like JJ are stricken with a sickness that has no cure. It is not a matter of if, but when he will commit another crime against a child. A crime that this website may have prevented.

I have to say that Washington County Alabama is like its own little world. They make there own rules and go by them. It's all a matter of who you know. If You know the right people you then have the right connections! There has been a few times that I'm very aware of that Deputies have not done there jobs. They run into people who they know have warrents and they let them go. I feel like someone needs to come in and see what is going on in this little community. There is no telling who is getting away with what in this county.
I think no matter what State you live in, they are not harsh enough with these offenders. I have been in court where people whom write bad checks for example get longer years then if a offender offenders a child. I have seen in court where the offender violates his pro... and he just gets extra time re-added back on, not prision time. I have seen all this from being a mother whos had a son molested, and lived in and of court for over a year. I also know the State will say anything to the family of the vic... but when it comes down to the final day of the sentenceing everything that was said is not true on what happens to the offender. My sons offender got 7 year prision time 85% of that 7 year sentence will be searved, and life preditor, He will re-enter our society one day in hopes too them that he will not due this re-peat offending again. My son has a life long sentence, the question is why does'nt he? I am angered they have all these rights, and laws named after people but have yet to really use this to help the vic... out. I'll never forget being told that they will find a prision for my sons offender that fits him, because not to many inmates take to child molesters, and they have too put their safety first, which means not send him too a hard core prision. The whole time I am thinking who was really the vic... my son or the offender? The state told me that when my son's offender took the plea, he needed some time too get things in order, the State gave him that time he needed(1 Month) mean while my son has lived a hell for over a year, and not once did the State help, I am the reason my son got therpy, and everything emotional he needed, I am not complaining, but you hear them say they do what they can too help children who are molested, but in all honesty they do not, but from what I have seen they do, do what they can for the offender. I"ll never understand, or like that, And I hate reading things on the sites from offenders who wine about how their life is ruined, and they can not find a place too live, or find a good job, what about the life of the child you took their spirt from? You have a second chance at least at trying too live in the society my son and other peoples children do not get that second chance of what you have taken away, I have no pitty, or feelings for you if I had it my way I would galdly give all my tax paying dollars too keep the offenders behind bars. Alabama Attorney General - AGOVA - Victim Service Officers
The new Sheriff in Washington Co.is very prejudicial and caters to his old 'cronie's. Recently I went to visit with a relative to see if we could work out a family problem. This person was very drunk, didn't want any part of solving a problem, just being part of the problem. She asked me to leave and as I did so immediately she pushed me down. This caused a serious abrasion to my hand. After leaving, I later went to her 85 year old Mother's house, her daughter, Sedje showed up even there, more drunk. Her Mother invited me in but the ?60? year old daughter spoke, not allowing her Mother to speak and was abusive to her Mother. She wouldn't let her Mother talk with me, so out of respect & fear for her Mother, I left the premises. Mrs. Moss was clearly frightened The next sober day Sedje went to her friend the Sheriff and filed NOT a Sheriff's Complaint was but two Complaints for Trespassing and Harassment. This was a Wednesday 5/10/07 On FRIDAY PM he sent 2 deputy cars to arrest me. I asked FOR WHAT? They would not tell me and wouldn't tell me who filed the charges. Nor were any Rights read to me.Also a NEW RULE that if you are put in Jail on Friday night that you can't make bail until Monday morning The Sheriff is also acting like Judge and Jury. I filed both a Sheriff's complaint againt the Sheriff's friend (Sedje Moss Simms) and a General Misdemeanor. Sheriff Stringer has NOT not yet served this to her and it has been over 2 weeks! How can he get away with over-punishment to those who aren't friends when it hasn't gone to court? This is NOT his role. Please advise me to someone who will advocate for me in this situation and who will inform the Sheriff that this is not appropriate behavior on his behalf. I have NEVER been arrested before and this was not warranted at all.Someone at the State level needs to know about this Sheriff. He scares me and could set me or anyone up unfairly for anything he wants. Please help. This County needs it now.

I understand that we want tougher laws for sex offenders. They should keep them in prison. But what happens when you know someone that was accused and you know they did not do anything, and would never hurt a child? I have a friend that was pushed into a plea bargain, because the da wanted to make some money and so did the sorry lawyer. This case was over a child custody battle. And then my friend ended up a sex offender. I think that the law enforcement and investigators should look into these sitations a little closer. Sometimes a woman lies!!! Dont get me wrong, just because my friend is innocent doesnt mean that I think that all sex offenders are innocent. I think they should hang the bad people who hurt women and children. But lets not just assumed that someone is a sex offender untill we have heard their story, then decide if we believe them or not. I know my friend is not guilty!!! And now he is branded a monster the rest of his life because of our so called judicial system. Unless, he can figure out a way to pardon himself from this nightmare!!!
Posted by: man (not registered) on June 01, 2007 at 05:12 am
Girl, you are completely right. It seems innocent until proven guilty is not the standard any more for people accused of being a sexual offender. The system has been taken from being so lite on people who are guilty that they have turned the process into a no win situation for people accused now even if they did not commit the crime. The person accused has to prove their not guilty instead of the DA having to prove they are.
the true offenders don;t pay, the ones who should not be labled do. Whats wrong with this picture?

My husband's sister accused not only my husband, but his brother and fahter. She was and still is a spoiled brat. My husband did nothing to her. My husband was 18 at the time, just out of school, working very hard at his job to support his dying father and trying to help his mom stay afloat with all the bills. His dad died, his brother got out of the charges with the help from his girlfriend and her family. They didn't charge my husband for 4 years!! When they finally did, they told him to accept this plea..or go to jail for 10 years. He accepted the plea of registering for 10 years..and on probabtion for 3. They basically took a scared, innocent young man and shoved him around, and told him things to scare him. He did fight for as long as he could, but his finances ran out, so that's why he accepted the plea. That all happened in Gerogia...now we live in Alabama..and find out that he has to register for LIFE..when he was 2 years away from being done registering. We have two boys, and he works very hard and is loved by his whole family (noone talks to the sister who said all this..coincidence.I don't think so..noone speaks of or about her unless it's something nasty to say)
Now we can't find a decent house, or have our neighbors not afraid of us. I feel like a recluse because I feel like I have to protect MY children from the neighbors. So now we have to live in a run down trailer when we can afford SO MUCH BETTER for our boys. How is that justice? who's the real victim in this case? Some of you who are judging should take a giant leap back and live in my husband's shoes for a day. Over half of offenders did nothing to their victim, but because they are women and shed a few tears....they got what they wanted.
By the way..my husband was a great kid...never in any trouble...no fights..a good teenager..no tickets never in trouble with the law..and hasn't been since.
I hope our boys turn out to be like their father..a great, loving and caring and generous man.

society is out of control with this witch hunt on sex offenders. 98% of all sex crimes are committ against children are someone they all ready no, not someone a list. Only 3% of all sex offenders commit new sex crimes. in most cases these registor do nothing more to ruin more lives. The most wonderful man i know is on alabama sex offender list and i know first hand the trouble is causes himself and his family. this crime was over 20 years ago, he plead quilt long before these registor we in place or even heard of, he's a christian man that placed his life in Gods hands, he's paid his debt to society with a quite lenght prison sentence. The pressure of these register has forced him to divorce, lose jobs, lose friends and not able to live any type of normal life. Luckly he has a very supportive family that encourges and supports him. but there are many sex offenders that aren't so lucky, where do you think they end up?
If you really believe that these sex offender registor are helping saving the lives of innocent children you are wrong. There is a 98% chance if your child is a victim of a sex crime it will be by someone YOU already know....
these register should be for law enforcement only, not for society to sit and judge those that have already paid they debt for there crime.

Chilton County is letting sex affenders loose before they even put them in jail. I know of a man who sexally molested 4 young cheerleaders, He pled guilty, but the judge didnt even give him a day. and he is not on the reg. either. I also see that Alabama counties are releasing these sex offenders most of the time the day they are conficted. Whats wrong with our laws that we are't protecting our children from these people.

Once someone is arrested in Alabama on charges of 1st degree sodomy and another charge "How long can they keep him without seeing a judge or being appointed a lawyer?'
Posted by: Oldtimer on October 02, 2007 at 06:48 pm
alabama oct 2. (IMO) I should think if he was "charged", the state is pretty sure he violated local law. If they are keeping him in jail, it may have to do with the "other charges" you mention. He may be a danger to society or himself at this time.
Posted by: Oldtimer on October 02, 2007 at 06:50 pm
stacy: was the crime reported? did it go to trial? Was he charged? If the answer is yes, (IMO) you should consult your state laws on registration and see if he should be registering. If he should be, consult your local police.

when a person is falsely accused the person that accused them should be put in jail.if a adult or a minor

I think it is a shame that innocennt people who are falsely accused get treated worse than murders. Accused sex offenders even with very minor ofenses can not live in peace or with any dignity in the state of alabama. Someone I know was accused of a sex offense just to destroy his parental rights and his whole life has been destroyed because of it. His health is very bad at the age of 48. He's been in bad health for the last 5 years. He was charge with this over 10 years ago and yet there is no way to make it go away. Does anyone think about the mentala and physical trauma this situation puts on an individual and his whole family and friends. Someone neds to upgrade our judiicial system and soon.

I live in Billingsley, AL. There is a man named Hunter Hall who moved in right behind us, less than I'd say 1000 feet from our home. He's lived there for a few years now. He was charged with 2nd Degree Rape. I just turned 18 in June and I have a younger brother. The sherriff's department isn't "required" to let you know if one moves in. They can post it in the office. But I live 15 miles from the city limits where the department is. The only reason we found out is because a lady that had lived in the same town as him when the crime was commited. I think there are laws prohibiting them from living within a certain distance from minors, aren't there?
Posted by: Oldtimer on October 23, 2007 at 04:13 pm
You will have to check with your state offender laws. In most cases offenders can live anywhere they want.
Sexual Offenders can live anywhere they want too, but They are supposed to let you know when one moves in your neighborhood, by Law. Unless the Offender lives a certain distance away that is within the Laws of not having to report, due to the fact the State feels your in no harm. I think you can check that out if you go to the police dept. Good luck. Hex

Does Alabama know they have a 3 time loser sex offender from vt. in their corrections(bullock)? His name is Daniel Emerson of Springfield Vt. who spent 25 years in vt. state prisons for 3 rape convictions. His last one in 1990(?) was quite offensive and disgusting to say the least. He knocked a 67 yr. old paralyzed woman from her wheelchair and raped her repeatedly. His ruse to get into her house was,his car had broken down and her needed to use the phone. He is scheduled to be released 3/22 2011 from Ala. jurisdiction for a rape he commited 2 mo. after he was released from vt. in pell city.I know this guy from childhood-he's sinister and evil.I hope someone offs him while he is in your system. We don't want him back in vt. And does anyone know how he ever got to Ala? He's very stupid and not too resource ful-He had to have had help from some unsuspecting org.

If Alabama is so strict with sex offender laws, why is the abuser of my 14 year old son not in prison? She pled guilty to rape 2nd as a youthful offender and was placed on probation for 3 years. It's been less than a year and she has already violated her probation by failing to report to her probation officer for 3 months and failing to register as a sex offender....and the worst part is the judge told her he was going to give her another chance! WHY? Because it was a female abusing a male? She was 19 and he was 14. I personally know of an identical case where it was a 19 year old male that abused a 14 year old female and that male is still sitting in jail. The same judge that gave the female abuser of my son another chance is the same judge that refuses to let the 19 year old male out of jail. It's completely unfair.

I have read several comments and don't agree with any. I have read where a woman states that sex offenders should hang, and anyone that hurts a child or woman. Oops lets stop there! Men get hurt as well! Also I thought we lived in a society that was cultured and educated. Yes I believe that it is morally wrong that activity to take place. I have children. But I also educate my children about bad people. Men and women! Also I feel to use the blanket comment that all sex offenders should hang, burn or just kept in prison is wrong! People due change, may be not violent repeat offenders. But is it so hard to treat each case differently? If back in the 60's we were able to put a monkey in space then we should be able to have a more civilized way of handling sex offense. I feel it is injust to treat everyone the same. Take the young black boy in georgia that was convicted of consensual oral sex with his girl friend. Hmmm! What happened to our society? Unfortunately thats what some teenagers do!

In the case I think we should ask ourselves, what would Jesus do?
While I believe a person should be punished for a crime I do NOT believe in scarlet letters aka sex offender registries. They protect noone if the truth be known. If a person is really a predator they should be in prison period but mistakes are made by both people and the justice system and to punish a one time sex offender to life on a registry with practically no way of obtaining gainful employment is cruel and unusual punishment. We are setting them up to fail. Let's use our brains and not our emotions and rethink this.
Posted by: Anonymous (not registered) on November 24, 2007 at 01:34 pm
If you believe the cycle of molestation, the law should institutionalize victims as future offenders in order to finally break the cycle. Otherwise the registry should be seen by juries, if not the law, as a hunting license and basis for jury nullification. Cast the first stone!!! Foam Foam Foam growl chew on foot.
Really the point is that unsupervised kids (i.e. parents) are as much to blame as sex offenders. The world has never been a safe place. Kids used to have one parent on watch. And things still happened. We just didn't report to dark events worldwide before.

Help Please! my x-wife's father is a registered sex offender and she continues to take my 12 year old daughter around him. She was molested for years by him and has forgiven him for this. I don't care if she foregives him or not he just got out of jail for harassing a juvenile. Do I have a case to get custody of my daughter? We share custody now please help, Thanks
Contact your local police Dept, explain too them your situation, and see what thay rec... you do for the best intrest of your daughter. I was molested by my father, and I hate the s.o.b. , and my four children do not know him, but anyways, do it now, and see where you stand!!! Trust me, HEX
This has really hit home for me, and I feel bad, so also try the abuse hotline number, It may be diffrent since your not in FLorida, try your court house rep... and ask who you can be connected too about this, do what ever you can. But also know every State has their own rules, laws, etc... but if he is not supposed to be around children period, and your ex is taking them there, that's not good, but also beaware that if your children say hes been o.k. with them, and nothing has happened to them in his care, reg. or not they have nothing to go on, and your ex, may still be able to take them to see him. It sounds sick, but the way the State works is that as wll, I hope you have better luck then i have had with that. Also contact your local Children and Familys Det.. , Health Dept, What ever it takes, you sound like your wanting to try to help your family, so do what it takes, even go to a lawyer get advise on what you can do is all else fails with the others I have listed for you to try. If in fact your ex did not report the abuse, then that may be a problem too. I do wish you luck, and keep trying, but if nothing gets done, your a good father and you did what you could to protect your children. In case something does happen keep a folser of listed names called days times, etc... and that way if (I wish not honestly) your child may get hurt at least you can show the judge what all you did to try to prevent that from happening to them, but overall always keep oopen talks with your children, and let them know they can come to you about anything, and if they have that trust with you, they will, My son taught me that, when he told on my EX-brother for molesting him. HEX

People that say the states aren't hard enough on offenders have no friggin idea. I won't go into the offense, but I will say I was 18, and she was 16 when I was convicted. I was 16 when I started seeing her. That was over 20 years ago now. Guess what, I havnt been perfect, but I don't go around messing with young kids, and raping women. But I have to register and be placed online with my face plastered on every offender site the government can find to put it on. THAT IS AGAINST MY CIVIL RIGHTS I DON'T CARE WHAT ANYBODY SAYS. I have not been convicted of any crime in that 20 years, with the exception of a misdemeanor failure to verify my address as a SEX OFFENDER. I have a 8 year old daughter and many who both my wife and I cherish, and is happy beyond our beliefs, and I have to tell our neighbors who have children also that I am a sex offender registered in there community. That affects my child also. I have never had a dui or ever hurt a child in my life. But I have to tell everyone I am around that has kids, and innadvertantly everyone I work with also. That is hell. I had someone sending around papers on me with my pic saying I am a pervert. That is wrong. I am a survivor of sexual abuse by my father. SURVIVOR. I had to endure that hell as a child and now this hell as an adult. I am not the only one. There are thousands of people that are being persecuted unduely. I am married, I am employed, I with the help of my wife own my own home, pay my taxes, and the police that will take my freedom if I dont do what the people I vote for say. It shouldnt be straight across the board. GET REAL PEOPLE. Save the children by changing society. Jesus.
I have been throught the States, and have learned alot good, and bad. They are not hard enough on the (TRUE) Preditors, and Offenders out there, (FACTUAL) But on the ones I have seen first hand who should not be labled Offenders, Or Preditors are the ones whom are teenagers, having sex, and the parent gets madd. I think it's wrong for the judge to even lable the young man a name, or women if it's both agreed upon. And why is it always the guys I have seen more labled? makes no since to me. HEX

The postings on this site is not complete. I feel the blame is local enforcement in small towns such as Grove Hill Alabama in which pesonal relationships get in the way of officers fulfilling their duties in making sure known sex offenders are registered. It is sad when you call to report a sex offender and you are told my an officer of the law that he knows the person personally and refuses to investigate. This actually happen and I believe it is the reason the sex offender I know is not registered. I guess it does not matter when it is my child or your child but what do you think would happen if it was his child. We must demand that registered sex offenders are listed, it may save a child's life! Grove Hill Alabama you need to get your act together, do your job, get the sex offenders registered or the destroyed life of a child will be on your hands.

There are several names that are not one this web page that should be like a T. Frazier from Crenshaw County he molested my 4 year old niece and he registered there in December and I would like to know why his face is not plastered all over her his sorry behind only had to spend 6 months behind bars for a lifetime of agony and pain to a handicap child. He should have been Casturated and hung by his balls personally!! I really wish u would put this pigs picture on here with his address so everyone will know what he has done to my niece. I will continue to look for it. I was told he did register on like 12/26/07 something like that in Crenshaw county.I just hope and pray he messes up and I am there to dial 911 to catch him slippin and nail him to the wall. What goes around comes around

J. Gambrell is a registered sex offender in Talladega County but is a stripper. Why is that not a violation? It just seems to me that he should stay away from anything deviant and stripping is surely not okay for those who have a history like his.

I think that you need to really know someone before you can cast judgment on them. I know someone that is very close to me. He is 36 now, but when he was 25, he got really intoxicated and blacked out. He stood on his porch thinking that it was the bathroom and he pissed of the side of it and a 16 girl saw this occur. He was charged with indecent exposure and now he has to register the rest of his life. He had gotten accepted to a big university and that was the reason for the partying that night. He had never been arrested before nor since the episode occured.
The reason for this is I believe in the registration, but I also believe that every case should be delt with on an individual bases. This has ruined his life. It will never be the same ever. I understand that he should have been punished and I totally agree with that, but not like this. Now that I have said all of this, that someone that I am referring to is me. Nothing has been the same since. If there were sexual intent behind it, then of course I could understand the registration. It was a stupid mistake made by a young person with no sexual intent whatsoever. Now, my life is over.
Think about that

Frankly I'm sick and tired of this registery. While I'm all for the authorities keeping an eye on those who break the law, I also think that if you have a registery for one "class" of criminal then you should do the same for all criminals. Why not have a registry for murderers? Thieves? Gang members? Drug Dealers? Normal Rapists?
To segregate a single class of offender and have them held to a standard beyond that which other offenders are held to should not be allowed in my opinion. Either open registeries for all offenders no matter what crime they did so that every neighbor, relative, co-worker and friend knows what they have done in their past, or have no registeries at all.
Granted what these people have done deserves punishment and they deserve to be watched, but they need to be watched by the authorities NOT the general public at large.

To "Whatever" -yours is obviously one of those cases where justice is truly blind. I hear stories like this all the time and it is not you....it is the justice system. It is corrupt and all about keeping the money flowing. If they(prosecutors and judges) don't keep charging people, their livelihood will be over. It is a sad case when peoples lives are ruined for the almighty dollar, but that is what is happening. This whole registry was started for the right reasons but it too has fallen prey to the Federally funded programs, the more people on the list the more money the state receives. They don't care who is on it, just that the numbers support the funding. SAD but true.

B. Ingle's name belongs here with his brother C.. He is charged with raping and sodomizing the eleven year old R. McEvoy. Ingle was a Chickasaw police officer when he was arrested in 2006. B. spent 6hrs in jail. Becca died in a car accident 1yr later awaiting trial. Now he may get off scott free because of legal wrangling. Because B. can't face his accuser. When did the process become more impt then protecting little children? Pray for justice for Becca and deliver our children from EVIL!

The Alabama governor, who stood by Beth Holloway against the corruption and injustice in Aruba, NEEDS TO STAND BY BECCA MCEVOY and her family. I may be a "Yank" but I think the saying down south is "GIT IR DONE".

R"Shorty" Blakley
Remember that name. I always will!!
I am a 50 year old man who was continously molested by a man named "S" Blakley. He was from the Blont County area, but when he was molesting me, he would take me to his home in Doraville, GA. He even took me to St. Pete, FL once. This all happened between the ages of 8 and 14. Of course he was well liked and even respected by my family members, and he would threaten me that if I told anyone he would kill my family. He carried a gun under his car seat and as a kid, I beleived him. I have been looking all over to locate him and can not find any clues to his where-a-bouts. He would now be around 65 and was very heavy. I think his real first name was R. I know he molested my younger brother also. I am now living in Tampa and found this site purely by accident and wished it was up years ago. I will bookmark the site and check back often should anyone know about this man. He worked in the construction field in Georgia. If I find him, I do not wish no harm to him. I want to bring in the local news media and the local church groups to help expose this man for the beast he is. I want to let all his neighbors know about him. PLEASE HELP!!

I am a 43 year old successful female. (I am a survivor) I was reg. molested by my much older cousin at age 6/7 (oral sex) for around 1 year, and by my half bro for a 1- 1/2 following. (6 years older) I was so young that I didn't know what sex was. So I didn't realize that my half brother actually raped me one time (that I remember), until I was practically grown. I still remember how I felt, the emotional & physical pain, the silent SCREAMS of HELP ME!!! Somebody help me!! He sneaked into my bed, late one night, and was on top of me by the time I knew what was going on. I was so afraid to tell my parents, and yes I was raised in a home with 2 loving parents. // I though it was my fault, I felt so awful and guilty. //For all of you that are so concerned about what the system does to the sexual offender, what about me!! I have spent a lifetime trying to heal. It was only in the past 10 years that I have been able to get a great amount of healing through the power of the Holy Spirit. I am so much better today, but I still hurt. There are times that I still cry, such as this moment now. I can not just get over it, put it all behind me, because when someone violates and rapes your spirit it becomes a part of you. // I grew up with no self worth, I hated myself and had regular thoughts of suicide. These things I took into my adulthood. In the past 3 years I have been able to turn self hate and other problems, stemming from the experience, over the God and He has delivered me from a lifetime of undeserving burdens. I still have bad memories, but it's different now. I still cry, but I don't hate them. Not to get religious on anyone, but I want to remind you that God can and will forgive those that have and are sexual predators, if they ask for forgiveness and leave their wicked ways behind them. But all through the Bible there were groups of people and great men of God that sinned and their sins were forgiven, but there was always a price to pay. They were not able to commit horrible sins and just walk away as if nothing ever happened. So for all those criminals that have been caught and can not get past the "scarlet letter", you made your bed, now lie in it!!!
I will say that I do feel differently about those people that are say 18 and slept with their 16 year old girlfriend and paid the price. I think that the system needs to reconsider a few areas on how it is handled.
Sometimes it is the "victimized" that are ones who over and over become the victim again. I am glad you have found a way to deal with this past experience. You are not alone with this. What you describe has been going on (incest) in families since and before Christ. It can mess your perception of the world up. However, as noted by many others, most sexual offense is done within the family or by a close family member or friend. Your example is one of many. I sometimes think what is going on with the registry is really the "venting" of abuse kept silent for so many years because it involved family members. IMHO sexual abuse if a form of "control" and can appear in any family and when put into the light, will be seen most everywhere. That doesn't make it ok, but you should not feel alone with this issue.

Yeah since Alabama has such tuff sexual offender laws, which are mean spirited, and vindictive, and the nation as a whole is going over board on the sexual offender crap, then why has New York failed to make Mike Tyson register as a sex offender? I guess money talks. America the double standard nation.

HEXGIRL...you are just another self righteous vindictive mean sprited woman that don't know what you are talking about. Many people that are required to register are not even real sexual offenders, but were threatened by DA's to plea bargain for crimes they never commited. Alot of these little old girls are very loose little girls, an dnot very many of them innocent. wise up!
craig.. sorry to burst your bubble here, but I dont think YOU know what your talking about. The law is the law and if you broke it, you have to suffer the consequences. You dont know everyones criminal history the way law enforcement does and not every sex offender is going to tell you the truth about the crime they committed. I know a lot of people think that its not fair for a person to have to register for the rest of their lives because of a mistake, like the girl lying about her age. But think of it this way.. most states 16 is the legal age. If the victim was under the age of 16, and the offender is between the age of 18-21, the victim can be charged as a youthful offender and only have to register for 10 years and it is not public knowledge. Youthful offenders still have to register but they have no restrictions other than notifications. This gives them a second chance. Now if the offender was over 21, then they are old enough and smart enough to understand what the law is and what the consequences of their actions would be. I think the law is pretty lenient on sex offenders considering a lot of them dont even comply with the sex offender laws. They skip state and avoid registration. All I can say is .. stupid hurts.
wanted to fix a statement in my post .. i said the victim can be charged with youthful offender.. i meant the offender can be charged as a youthful offender. Thanks :)

A prosecuted sexual offender (E. L. Jordan) sentenced in Bay County FL and recently released (12/07) has moved to Theodore, AL per court records. He is not showing up on your records. My question is why? I want to make sure he is where he states he is.
He has to come in a register. What happends is this: He has to tell the police/sheriffs dept. where he resides that he is planning on moving. Those departments notify us in Alabama. IF he actually moves to Alabama and IF he actually comes in to the police/sheriffs dept. to register with us, then he would show up on the registry. Otherwise it is investigated and if we find him residing here, we sign a warrant on him, and pick him up for a class C felony. If for some reason he decides to cheat us and move somewhere else, I hope he gets stopped for a traffic violation and he gets caught. He was still registered when he got out of prison so he is in the system and it will always show up when his drivers license is checked.
http://offender.fdle.state.fl.us/offender/offenderSearchNav.do - There is an E. L. Jordon on this website from Bay County, Is this the same Jordon?

Young girls like to lie about their age, the parents let them run off and have sex, many men fall victim to this, and end up as sex offenders. Please make sure you read the full charge before you judge, also "rape II" isn't rape, its consensual sex with some one under age. Not someone doing it against your will. When i was 14 or 15 if a an older women would of had sex with me, it would of been so awesome

My story did not take place in Alabama, but I feel the need to tell it any way. My brother lived in Baton Rouge, he HAD a nine year old son who walked to school. Two men who lived close by kept trying to get him to come into their house. When this was reported to the police, they were told that these two men had to make a threatning comment. Needless to say, Cook was taken off the street, raped, and shot with a double barreled shot gun at close range. When Cook didn't show up at his friends home and it was reported to the police, it took them twenty minutes to find out where he was at, but by then it was to late. To make it even worse, Cookes father was in Germany, and had to get an emergency leave to come home. This incident could have ended differently if someone had listened. A sexual preditor is a sexual preditor, they need to be in prison, not down the street from children. It's a shame the society has come this far down, a child is precious, their childhood should not be shaddered by someone like this.
I'm confused. Your brother had a 9 yr old son and lived in Baton Rouge, but the father had to come home from Germany? Can you refer to a newspaper story about this incident? You make the police out to be idiots (IMO) what were they not told to help prevent this crime?

most people have no idea about sex offender laws and the general public always feel like the laws should be harder on offenders. that is partly right. if someone is convicted of a serious offence, he should get more prison time. if you want to know if a sex offender lives near you go look that neighbors record up on your own. you dont care if a thief lives next door? what about a nice man convicted of murder? is it the governments job to tell you about your neighbors. do people ever change? who are you to know the facts about each person details to everyones cases or is every sex offender and crime the same? i believe in harsher sentences for these crimes and many people should never be let out of prison. i am even in favor for the just denied death penalty laws for certain offenders. the people that decide these things know the facts about the case. i believe in registering after release with the local law enforcement and dna banks for every offender, but i also believe people in america have the god given freedom to live where they want to. work where they want if given a job. i believe felons should have the right to vote after a number of years after release. if you want tougher laws then get tougher sentencing and leave people alone once they have done their time, unless they do another crime.
CRAIG,
IF YOU READ MY POST RIGHT YOU WOULD SEE THAT NOT ALL SEX OFFENDERS ARE JUST THAT. YES IT DOES DEPEND ON THE SITUATION OF WHAT HAPPENED, BUT IF YOU ARE A ADULT, AND THIS IS A CHILD LIKE MY SON WAS, YOU, OR THAT PERSON SHOULD BE PUT AWAY.

I can relate to so many of these stories, I have two disabeled sons and found the most incredible man I have ever met. This man is a great father to my sons but was falsly accused of a sex offense. I was told about the accusations on our first date and I believed him immediately. He had to report to Shelby county for two years then was talked into taking a plea or the threat of ten years in jail hung over his head. He had to serve 6 months then he got out and was told he could live with us. It turned out he could not and was arrested. He got out but has been harrased since then being arrested every time they want to pick on him. I love my husband and believe in him 100 %. Since my youngest son is only 14 we can't live together till he is 18. This makes for a very hard marriage. We are struggling to keep two households afloat for the next four years till my son is18. I believe in my husband and will stand by him. I will believe till the day I die that he was falsly accused. Tell me this why are sex offenders treated worse than mass murders? I truely believe if they are guilty they should pay, but lets make sure they are guilty. Everyone deserves a second chance and the benifit of the doubt. I hate living with no power no water and in a dumppy trailer but because my husband was falsly accused, this is what I am driven to. The injustice that is being done to my children and my husband is unfair. We should get together and try to make a differience. I love my husband and will be by him always...... S.S.W
