i am a registerd sex offender because of a letter i wrote in 1997 when i was 19 to a girl who was 16 who i was in a relationship with while i was incarcerated in the prison system. we had considered our selves to be in a relationship and in love. she wrote me a letter contain intimate details so i wrote her one back. her parents intercepted the letter turned it in and i was charged with exposing a child to harmful material which back in 1997 was not considered a sex crime. well in 2000 when all of wisconsins laws changed my crime became a sex offense and i recieved a letter in the mail sating i now have to register with S.O.R.P. me and this girl never meet in person never talked on the phone our only means of communication was through the U.S. mail. So now because of words that were put on paper to someone i was in love with and only a 3 year age difference i know have to register for the next 15 years of my life. So why dont they go to all these high schools and arrest every 18 and 19 year old boy or girl who is dating someone younger and make them register.
