I am a retired army NCO and was on jump status for 14 years. A long story short, I was also a police officer, detective and swat operator for 13 years. I discovered in my middle 30s that I needed both hips and my right shoulder replaced and buldging discs in my lower back due to the physical pounding I took in my careers in public service. Most of my army time was with SOCOM, or special operations command. I wont divulge further, but I paid a high physical price. Very long story short, I became addicted to pain medication. I never took any on duty and asked for help from my P.D. Instead of help I was politically attacked because I had run for sheriff against my boss. I was charged with multiple made up felonies and offered a quaranteed no felony plea with probation and expungement. I wanted to fight but my wife and family asked me to take the guarantee. They were afraid of more railroading and extended jail time. I went against every moral fiber and took the plea even thoough I was innocent. So I know first hand our system coereces innocent people to take the best odds. I entered an alford plea. That means I did not admit guilt but I would have been retarted not to take the plea. I tell you this because I know another officer and friend who was charged with sexual assault. I know to be false because I testified at his trial. I listened to the evidence and it was only her accusation and his denial. The times from his radio traffic made it impossible for him to have done what she accused him of. Even though she had given several sworn depositions, she changed her story on the stand and he was convicted. She sued and won a big payday. I will not comment on her previous accusations on members of other govt. agencies. I do know that most sexual assaults are not reported and I took my duty very serious when investigating. I was falsely accused for retaliation and lost everything including my wife of 20 years. He was also and lost his career and wife also and served his time. I did not tell you he had been a Ranger in the army and instead of being bitter, he obtained a waiver after his release. He now patrols on foot everyday in the most dangerous place on this earth,Baghdad. When I finish my surgeries, I am going to Afghanistan as a contractor. The moral here is judge not, lest... you know the rest. Vengence is the Lords. Use these registries as information to help YOU protect those that need it. Not for venting or judgement. I pray for a day we dont need a sex or any other registry. God bless and remember the Lord says to love your enemy. Its hard to do, but we must try.
