HexGirl- sorry to hear that happened to your son. There was some great points made by john. I have made several post already with out a name. YOu may recall the girl being 19 and me 24.. Well I am almost 27 and 3yrs into my 25 year sentence on the SOR. The system is flawed badly. I want to get involved I want to do the best I can to get the laws as right as possible to protect our children mine included, but the way the system is now, it will never work.

S.O.

After a year of treatment. I saw the same things you just described. Some of the guys in that room really needed help, other after talking and getting to the situation have no business being in there. You only got 10yrs bro your lucky. I got 25yrs. But either way it still sucks.

Your son should not be castered. He will endure a harass enough pentally through being registered and trying to rebuild his life. I speak from expirence. The young women involved however they need to put her on the list for what she does and her parents should be held accountable for their daughters actions. I would get all over the state officals if I was you. I am registered offender and I am writing state and federal offical. The SOR is messed up, and needs to be fixed! Stay strong my mom understands your pain.

Mr.Lunsford-

I feel bad for you son, and I am sorry you lost your daughter. But you are one of many who have faught and turned the SEX OFFENDER thing in to a nation wide crazy. Laws are screwed up, its being miss used and abused, and NOW you are seeing it froom both sides of the fence. Its time we fix the big ass mess up we call home, AMERICA!

This is just a another way to give the American people a false sense of security come on, there is so many better ways then this. We do not need a false face, what happen to being REAL!

I was able to pay for very good legal counsel thanks to the support I had from my family. However, my counsel turned out to no be as good as the amount of money I paid out. Turns out the most of the counsel for these type of cases would rather plea the case out, not because their client is guilty but because they can not keep up with the forever changing laws.

Patrick-

The laws are flawed. I can speak from being a registered offend whom is 26yrs of age. I have a meeting with my rep. in my district for our state government. I am sick of the laws, and how flawed they are. I want to start a NON- Profit group so we can start fighting back. They are in a sense trying to segragate us from the every day population so to speak, as they did blacks, and gays. Sure some of the offenders we need to watch out for but there are so many more whom pose zero threat. I also would like to state that the young women whom lie about their age, need to be held account able along with the parents. Its time we come together and work to get the laws straight NATION WIDE and uniform. No neon plates for your car, no special markings on your photo id, nothing on your myspace, facebook, or any other internet site. People need to be educated and young children need to be taught the dangers that hide be hidden screens and parents need to be involved. GPS tracking for those convicted of CHILD MOLESTION i agree with. We all need to remember one thing, we are all somebodies children.

FOLKS we are getting a little carried away here!! We need to step back and make sure we are "doing the right thing". I believe we could be doing the wrong thing to some of the registered offeneders on myspace, by removing their accounts. What if these are offenders whoms case had NOTHING to do with children? We need to look at this case by case and make sure its morally and ethically right to delete their account. I do agree with the AG from NH that parents need to approve the child to have a myspace! Also, parents need to stay involved after they give their child permisson to be on myspace.

Shame on this girls mother! She put the love of some man before the love she should of had for her child. This is sad! But folks the girl agreed so that way she could get things in return she could have said NO. I do not agree with anything that went on from what I have read. Both Mom and boyfriend should be left in jail to rott. This girl needs some serious help herself, because now she is the prime canidate to commit a sex crime from reports I have read. I really hope she turns out ok. What a shame :(

Oldtimer-

I agree with you. Its time we stop rushing laws into place, and take a long hard look at what needs to be done and how it should be handled. So man KIDS are ending up on this list for highschool romances, and underage sex. We all did it at one time in highschool unless we had the will power to stave off peer pressure or just flat out had enough will power not to have sex. There are a lot of people whom also should be on this list, but it has to be retooled if you will.

Did you know?
While drugs and alcohol are often involved in sexual assaults, drugs and alcohol do not cause sexual offenses to occur. Rather, drug and alcohol use may be a disinhibitor for the offender, while being under the influence may increase a potential victim's vulnerability.
