Hey kat, I recently married a sex offender. My daughter regards him as her daddy. There was red tape all over and some of my family doesn't even speak to me any more because they have the same tunnel vision about sex offenders as much of the country. They won't see the man I do. They close their eyes to how hard he works at being a productive citizen, at living a normal life. I can't say there should be more lenience, because in all honesty, yes, some convicted offenders are sick and cannot heal, but there are others, such as my husband, who made stupid decisions when they were younger and are paying with their lives for it. It sickens me. It really does.

It's a media-fueled witch-hunt. Everyone's a sex offender these days. Can we get the law to focus on keeping those who have proven themselves to be dangerous off the streets and stop looking for excuses to put more people on these registries??
