Oldtimer, I have written to Fedral, State and local officials and asked others to do the same. I got a call from Lifeline, the national suicide hotline, because I wrote the Whitehouse and they sent a copy of the letter to them because of the phrase "wide awake nightmare with no end in sight." I guess that was their answer to this. I have just been blown off in a major way. You better believe a fired another letter back to them. How can anyone with a conceince justify this as what the public wants? Most of the public don't realize what this list is now being used for. I have no faith in the system anymore. Being a vicum myself, I have great sympathy for the vicums of sexual abuse. When there is no such act committed, no "victum" other than the one accused, that's just wrong. When they put stiffer penalties on offenders, which legislatures are working on now, it effects every on the list. That scares me to death! Some states have tried to impose the death penalty, so far as far as I know this was over ruled. I wish everyone would wake up to the fact that anyone at any time can fall prey to the laws. All they have to do is tick someone off.

Maryellen: Be sure to involve yourself in the political process. The legislature feels it is doing what people want with this registry. If no one tells them the other side of the story, they will never hear it.

Yes, these are everywhere with enough info to get the offender and or their family killed. Even if the offender is a juvenile who's only crime was falling in love and being immature enough to act on it and not knowing they were braking any law.
