My child has been playing at a convicted sex offenders house for the last 3 months. We never knew about his convictions until a neighbor told us she saw him registered after doing a routine freak check on the neighborhood. F.Y.I. KEEP INFORMED!!!

Well in this day and age you are stupid not to know who and where your children are playing. Don't parents get involved in their childrens lives?? I remember as a kid I had to ask permission to go to a friends house and my grandmother talked to my friends parents to see if it was ok. It seems today parents are happy letting thier children go wherever just so they can get sometime away from thier kids.In this day and age its dangerous!!!and stupid!!!!!

Concerned Parent. Just because he is a registered sex offender doesn't mean he's a treat!!!! Did you ever find out why he is a registered sex offender. Doesn't mean he's a child molester. Upon popular belief not all sex offenders have harmed a child. Some are registered for urinating in public, mooning, consensual sex between 2 teens which one happens to be under 16 and then theres rape and child molestation.I am a sex offender. I was 16 my girlfriend was 15 and it wasn't something her dad liked so he pressed charges. This was 20 years ago. I am now 36 and have never been arrested for anything again. So before people start coming out with the pitch forks find out first. Not all are dangerous!!! Look at me.

Well Sean your not the only one out there with same thing, my fiance was in prison in 1996 for child endancancy, he has been on registery ever since until 2007, he was no longer on it, the officers told him he was done with that, so he came to Canada to visit me. Now he is back in prison for not registering, it's now 7 months later still in jail with no court yet. The man is innocent from the beginning, but due to registery it's a life in prison. I think he's safer in prison then on the streets, people don't understand the term SEX OFFENDER, they assume it's sex only. The real sex offenders out there will actually commit the crime again even if they register. And the law thinks it stops them from recommitting. The ones like you for instance and my fiance don"t re-offence is due you are actually innocent to start. Good luck and god bless to all who suffer due to the registery.

I don't know why not. My ex is an Registered sex offender, and he is back with his wife and step kids and also has custody of my children. So, if that is good for one then it is good for another.

Actually you are wrong. Its up to the terms of your sentence. It can no contact with kids or it can be supervised contact with kids. There's no knowing unless you ask thier probation/parole officer. When I was 16(20 years ago) and had sex with my high school girlfriend after my sentence there wasn't any stipulation to where I couldn't be around children. I just couldn't have any contact with her.
Did you know?
While drugs and alcohol are often involved in sexual assaults, drugs and alcohol do not cause sexual offenses to occur. Rather, drug and alcohol use may be a disinhibitor for the offender, while being under the influence may increase a potential victim's vulnerability.
